WELCOME
A little extra for our guests There’s often more to a stay in a Christian Guild hotel than just a holiday in stunning surroundings, thanks to our Interest Breaks. From guided walking breaks to holidays for those who love art or music, we’ve got something for you in our wide range at all our hotels. And our Interest Breaks are great value. As well as superb rooms and fantastic food, you get a lot of expert knowledge, lunches and more included in the price. You really won’t need to worry about anything, because the price includes all you need. As well as enjoying a great activity, Interest Breaks also give you the chance to meet like-minded people and make new friends. To make it easier for you to find out what’s going on we’ve updated our website to include more details about the breaks. Visit www.christianguild.co.uk/holidays and you will be able to look through the breaks by date, hotel or break type and find out more about it by clicking on ‘show details’. Or if you don’t have access to the website, you can always telephone the hotels to find out what breaks they have on offer. Our reception teams are standing by, ready to take your call and provide all the information you need.
Whatever the weather throws at us this year (be it droughts or floods or both together!) you will always receive a warm welcome at a Christian Guild hotel. We are committed to helping you have a fantastic holiday, break or overnight stay, but we always like to go further. That is why we offer our guests more than just fantastic hotels and holidays. For example, we have an early payment offer that lets you enjoy a 4% discount on the price of your holiday when you pay in full 6 months or more in advance. And to help all our customers in these tough economic times, we continue to offer our redundancy protection scheme. If you are made redundant after booking your holiday and wish to cancel, then we will ensure a full refund of all money is paid – including deposits. So you can have total peace of mind when you book with us.
When you stay with Christian Guild you can tailor your holiday with us. Choose from one of our five magnificent hotels and then choose when you’d like to stay (from one night or a weekend to a week or two’s holiday). If you want to get involved with our great Interest Breaks, then there’s plenty to choose from. But if you want to stay at any time and just do your own thing, that’s fine. You don’t have to join the activities – it’s your holiday so it’s your choice!

The club held its Annual General Meeting at Willersley Castle in April, with over 60 members attending and enjoying the annual exhibition of projected images and prints. The prints were on display in the recently refurbished Library and great fellowship was enjoyed, culminating in a Sunday morning ‘Agape’ service conducted by the club chaplain, Deacon Val Facey. The club was founded in 1904 as a cultural activity of the Wesley Guild and has claims to be the oldest continuously operating postal group in the country. It has grown steadily over the years and has held its AGM at Willersley Castle since 1954, and its Autumn Reunions at other Christian Guild hotels. It has over 150 members across the country, and welcomes members and adherents of the Methodist Church who have an interest in photography. Anyone interested in finding out more about the club, or joining, can visit the web site at www.penandcamera.org.uk or contact the General Secretary, Bob Winter: Tel. 0191 386 5872 or email bobwinter@bobwinter.plus.com
