PASTOR’S BLOG
I actually love how the message translation pens it: Don’t burn out; keep yourselves fueled and aflame. Be alert servants of the Master, cheerfully expectant. Maintaining zeal is our responsibility. Just like ensuring there’s enough fuel for the fire we need to know what it is that empowers our lives to live our best for God. We very easily blame spiritual burn out on busyness or fulfilling our differing responsibilities. but to be honest, a lack of spiritual fervour is as a result of a lack of the right kind of fuel.
Time with God, attentive to His voice and responsive to His Spirit, is the greatest fuel for the fires of zeal. His presence is what ignites the human heart like nothing else and no-one else.
ROMANS12:11//////
There’s good advice and then there’s GREAT advice. It goes without saying that as far as the Bible is concerned it is always more than simply good advice. The Bible recognizes the challenges that lie in store for those who genuinely want to live a life full of God. Its not easy – but who said it would be. What about this for GREAT advice…Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervour, serving the Lord (Romans 12:11)

He is more than a baby and more than a man. He is God, who came to us in human form.
This is our theme this Christmas and we will be exploring it together on Sunday mornings during December.
THINGS TO NOTE... GET CONNECTED: THE REVIEW BY ARTHUR MAGAHY “I am delighted to report a very successful Sunday morning. Five new volunteers for the 11.15 service.” “I wish we could have this every week.” “Wow, I hadn’t realised there was so much going on this church!” These are just some of the comments following last month’s Get Connected Sunday when we experienced CHURCH – but not in the way that we normally do church. No rows of seats. No (sung) worship. No (spoken) message. But a clear message that church is about people – people connected to people so that together we can worship God, serve one another, and serve the wider community in south Birmingham. It was great to see people connecting over coffee and biscuits without feeling the pressure to move on to “the next part of the service” – to hear the buzz of fellowship and connecting. Some folk actually stayed for both services and were disappointed when they were told it was time to pack up and prepare the hall for the evening service. It was exciting to see people connecting around tables where ministries were being introduced and explained. Now, for perhaps the first time, we were able to put names to faces, and faces to ministries. For those who were unable to be attend Get Connected Sunday there are still copies of the Get Connected booklet available from Reception. Perhaps, more than anything, it was good to see people getting excited when they discovered some of the mission heart of CLC – expressed in ways such as ARK, Hope for Justice, Oasis Coffee Shop, Prison Ministry – and wanting to get involved. In the end, mission happens when people get involved – get connected. The more that you Get Connected...the more we can do. Get Connected...it doesn’t stop here.
