Kaiuso, Kyoto, Japan Designed by Ueji, the most famous gardener of Japan’s modern period, this garden sanctuary in the historic city of Kyoto is situated on the former site of a Zen temple. Listed for ¥8 billion (US$95.1 million), Kaiuso was widely promoted at Christie’s salerooms worldwide, and sold to a client of the auction house and major collector of Japanese art who turned it into a museum. John Kluge’s Palm Beach Estate (bottom right) Casa Sin Nombre in Palm Beach, Florida, sold for US$39 million. The private, four-acre oceanfront compound was assembled by the late billionaire, entrepreneur, and philanthropist John Kluge. Important artworks and classical antiquities from the Kluge collection were sold by Christie’s. Cheyne Walk Heritage House, Chelsea, London (left page) The former estate of Victoria Press, a renowned art collector and Christie’s client, this historically significant Queen Anne house on London’s Cheyne Walk was listed for £15 million and sold in spring 2015, and the entire contents of the house were auctioned by Christie’s.
