Who We Are

Second Chance NJ is a 501 © (3) non-profit organization, created to train and place previously incarcerated people in the hospitality industry. High rates of recidivism (individuals returning to jail/prison after release) and the difficulty the food industry has in attracting and hiring long-term employees make this a project that can help solve two serious problems in our community.

A Solution

An exclusive 8-week culinary arts training program to provide a basic orientation to the culinary arts. This intensive course will prepare the student to assume entry level positions in the area’s restaurants.

Partnerships

Second Chance NJ has entered into partnerships with the Monmouth County Culinary Arts Program, Monmouth and Ocean County Probation, The NJ Department of Corrections and the NJ Re-Entry Corp.

Funding

Second Chance NJ has received a grant from the NJ Department of Corrections to initiate its program and the first group of classes.

When you can’t be there, we can. We’ll prepare your house for a storm, manage contractors, insure there is no damage from storms, prepare the house for your arrival and more.

Concierge

We can prepare your house for a rental with our checklist to insure the house is clean and fully stocked with essentials like paper towels, toilet paper, napkins, firewood and more. Our “Welcome Package” includes a cheeseboard, wine, milk, juice, coffee and croissants.

Handyman

We can fix just about anything and can perform tasks like painting, caulking, grouting, small carpentry and much more. How many times have you said you wished you had a handyman to fix something you either didn’t want to fix or didn’t know how to fix? That stubborn kitchen cabinet that refuses to close, the grill handle that popped off, a door that needed new hinges?
