There are various types of hysterectomy. The main types of hysterectomy are 1.
Total Hysterectomy - A total hysterectomy is the removal of the uterus and cervix.

Radical Hysterectomy - This operation includes the removal of the uterus, cervix, the top portion of the vagina and most of the tissue that surrounds the cervix in the pelvic cavity.
During the surgery, the uterus can be removed through a cut in the vagina (vaginal hysterectomy) or in the abdomen (abdominal hysterectomy), depending on the reason for the surgery.
