Radical hysterectomy: this surgery is often recommended in cases of cancer where the surgeon removes the entire uterus with the cervix along with the upper part of the vagina, and supporting tissues. Complete or total hysterectomy: in this surgery, both the uterus and cervix are removed. Partial or subtotal hysterectomy: also called supracervical hysterectomy, in this type of surgery the upper two-thirds of the uterus are removed, leaving the lower part (cervix) intact.
