News in Brief
By The Chronicle
The Centralia Downtown Association has announced plans for its most popular summer events, Antique Fest and the Summerfest parade. This year’s July 4 parade will be sponsored by Windermere Real Estate in Centralia. Half of the sponsorship dollars will go to the Historic Fox Theatre restoration. The entry fee for the parade is $25. All the money will go toward the hanging flower basket fund. During this year’s parade, the Centralia Downtown Association will honor two people, Terry Curry and Boe Wohld, who will both be the grand marshals of the parade. Wohld recently retired after 33 years of working as the special services officer for the Centralia Police Department. Curry is a long-time local business owner. Those wanting an application for the parade can email downtowncentralia@gmail.com or call Steve Koreis at (360) 219-8192.
Centralia’s 18th annual Antique Fest will take place on July 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in addition to July 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vendors selling antiques and collectibles from all over the Pacific Northwest will participate in the event. There will also be vendors selling festival-type food. A Seattle antique appraiser, George Higby, will be offering appraisals for individual pieces at the Compass Pub, located on the corner of North Tower Avenue and Maple Street.
Anyone interested in sponsorship information should contact Jim Elder at (360) 807-1183 or elderrealty@localaccess.com. Anyone interested in vendor or event information should contact Susan Delaire at (360) 3049653 or email abundancevintage@gmail.com. The fee is $25, which will go toward the association’s hanging flower basket fund. The Centralia Downtown Association will also soon be launching a new website.
