EDITOR’S LETTER ––––––––––––––––– Hello, I’m Denise Ly, your bulletin editor! If you’re new to reading my newsletter, welcome to Key Club! Last month was so fun to collect your articles about working and bonding at the Kiwanis Fireworks booth, and now reading over your articles now to see you guys having so much fun at our summer social warms my heart! Seeing my friends mingle with others and the new freshmen that came to our event was also a sight to see. Cleaning up for our community while making memories is what we’re all about so thank you all who participated! Enjoy reading through the wonderful newsletter that was created by the members who had their own memories to create!

BEST WISHES,

Denise Ly 03

PRESIDENT’S LETTER – – – – – – – – – – – Hey everyone!! My name is Max Garcia, your key club president! Last July, we had quite a few events going on. We volunteered at the Kiwanis Fireworks Booth, selling fireworks and getting a lot of volunteers. We also had our summer officer board meeting where we discussed important information and plans about the upcoming term. Next, we had our first Summer Social at Desert Breeze Park on July 28th. Despite the bad weather, we did have a lot of members come and have fun throwing water balloons and pie if members in the face. That’s all for July, but this next month, be aware of all the new upcoming events!!

SINCERLY,

Max Garcia

CLARK’S SUMMER SOCIAL

Honestly, I was a bit nervous when I first walked out of my car because I didn’t know most of the people there. However, that quickly changed! One of the members approached me, introduced herself, and told me more about the key club position she was in. The different activities ended up making me feel more comfortable, and I felt like I was able to learn a little more about everyone. Overall, I had tons of fun and I met lots of really nice people ! – Selina Ye; Class of 2022 The summer social was such a fun way to interact and meet new people. Although I didn't know anyone there, I felt welcomed. The social gave me an opportunity to volunteer and help clean up the park as well as establish new friendships. I learned that helping out others and the environment can be rewarding and that I'll definitely be enjoying my time at Key Club. – Joanna Ao; Class of 2022

The Summer Social was super fun! I got to hangout with my friends and clean up the park. It was pretty hot that day so having the water balloons helped us cool off and it was nice just getting some bonding time with friends. I’d highly recommend everyone to go next time, it’s a fun filled adventure. :) – Kaitlyn Zhou; Class of 2020 We started out with an icebreaker and I got to learn a bit more about people after I slipped on the grass. We also played a round of water balloon fighting, where I dominated in nothing but standing still & missing all of my throws. Shortly after, we did a park-wide clean up competition that my group had won. Lastly, a pie in the face for the members of the club had ended our time there, when I got to enjoy the sweet feeling of seeing my friends get pied. The summer social is a great variety of fun and service & I definitely recommend – Edward Hsueh; Class of 2021

This was my second summer social I have attended. I felt a bit more comfortable with the group this year as I knew most of the members. I also wanted to create a safe environment for the three freshmans I invited. We did an icebreaker which was a nice way to introduce ourselves again after the long break, then we did a water balloon fight. The weather was great until we had to pick up trash at the park. Although there were strong winds, at least the park was cleaned. We ended the social with food, laughs while other might had to suffer more with a pie or two to the face. It’s a great event after a while of not doing anything over the summer. – Feliza Cunanan; Class of 2021

I honestly thought the summer social was really cool cause it's a chance to catch up with your long lost friends. After a month of solitude is was nice to feel the sunshine on my face but it was also really windy so my face blew off. Besides that I had a really fun time seeing other key clubbers that I hadn't talked to for a while and seeing the little new freshies. I enjoyed the water balloon fight and the clean up was fun too since my team was really tryna win. Even though we didn't, it's not about winning or losing it’s about helping clean the community, so since everyone did that, we are all winners in my book. – Ryan Mendoza 08
