ROCK PAINTING SOCIAL
Going into Ms. Mata's event, I was nervous to meet students from Japan knowing how different their lives must be compared to ours. Our task was simply to help them learn English by conversing with them. We were all split up into groups and my partner and I were paired with two boys from their school. It was awkward at first, we had to introduce ourselves and ask each other questions about our lives. I learned that they were part of their soccer and tennis team as well as their favorite foods or music. But by the end of the meeting, we were all laughing along and they even ended up teaching me a few Japanese words. They were super kind and I loved being able to get a glimpse of what it must be like to be a student in Japan, which was entirely different from our lives in Vegas!
