Hello Chargers! I hope AP testing season has treated you well. It has been slightly over a month since the term began, and I hope you're already having as much fun as I am! I'm so excited to be able to work with all of you guys and to be able to get to know you even more over the course of this year. I am so grateful that I have been granted the opportunity to serve you and the organization that I love so much. I have so many goals for the next term, including to increase membership, educate the members more about Key Club, and to get the club more involved in vocalizing their opinions. It's not going to be a quick change, nor will it be a super easy task, but I know that it is possible if we all work together. We really cannot do it without you! I hope that we can go through this journey of helping the club grow and expand together. I really can't wait to see what will be accomplished by the end of the term. Though the school year is rapidly coming to an end, I hope that you don't forget to continue to do service! Service always calls, and it doesn't stop for anyone! Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. I'm always open to talk to any of you guys if you request to do so! With all my love, Katlyn Wong

Hello! I am stoked to be setting up and designing the first newsletter of my term. It still seems so surreal to be working as your bulletin editor, but it’s already happening so quickly. I can feel myself getting more excited as I create a place to share your experiences and get to know more of the members better through these newsletters. Please feel free to ask any questions and don’t be afraid to talk to any of the officers! We’re always here to help and support our members. This is going to be quite the journey. Stay put for the 2017-2018 term because we have a lot coming your way! Best wishes, Lyann Gao

SPRING PARK SOCIAL 3.25.17 ă€Œ

My first spring social was more exhausting than I thought it would be, but it was super entertaining! We had a park cleanup contest, and my team and I ran all over Desert Breeze Park. Thank goodness the weather was a bit cool that day. All that running was all worth it because, we won! I've never seen a park so clean before, after everyone helped picked up trash. After the park cleanup, the officers put together a scavenger hunt. Not just any scavenger hunt, a person scavenger hunt. The officers were spread out in the park, and each team had a clue. Each clue were facts about one officer, and we had to find them. I'm glad that I went to most of the meetings, because if I didn't, I wouldn't knew the answers to most of the clues. I can't remember a time where my teammates and I were walking, it was all running, again. Even though we were tired, we kept moving forward. The miles we ran were rewarded, because we won again! Our team, The Company, took the two W's! After the two exhausting, but fun contests, we had Cane's! Thank you Ms. Wong and former officers for the event! I enjoyed the whole event! I can't wait to attend more events this term!

JAPANESE SPRING FESTIVAL 「

4.1.17

The Japanese Spring Festival Kizuna Japanese Spring Festival was an event held at Lorenzi Park on was a very fun and memorable time. April 1st. In this event we were all put There was so many people there and in different sections to work in. My I’m glad to see so many happy faces. section was the "Kimono Experience". There were performances on the stage, In this section, one could pay $5 to rent food, and items to buy. I love going to a kimono. It was really fun working in festivals but I love volunteering at them this section because you got people to even more. I had the tea ceremony see the smiling faces of all the who station, so I can tell you all about tea. tried on a kimono for the first time; though it was pretty funny seeing We made tea and served wagashi to people get confused between the male guests who wanted to experience it. It and female kimonos. There were four was pretty hot at the festival, like very people in my section meaning we got sunny, but not to mention WINDY. to take breaks often. During my breaks Setting up the tables and decoration I walked around and saw all the cool was difficult, everything kept flying things people were selling such as away. We had to tape everything down. t-shirts and origami. My favorite thing The early morning before people came to buy was the strawberry mochi ice was so beautiful, since it was spring the cream as well as the shaved ice. I have to say the the best thing about this trees and grass was very green and the event was that not only did I get to pink decoration contrasted well. I really wear a kimono but I got to meet new enjoyed making tea and assisting our people and spend time with friends. I Obachan. :) She was really thankful me would definitely recommend for and Terry were there to help. We ended people to go to this event next year, it is up wearing Yukata and it was really hot a great way to volunteer and you have but I managed to stay alive and make a lot of fun! 7 tea. DISTRICT CONVENTION 4.9.17

District Convention is an experience that you don't want to miss and for me, it was an especially emotional one as I would be retiring as President. This is one of those trips that I cannot explain because it is one that you must experience for yourself. It is also one of those trips that is what you make it. At District Convention, I was able to reunite with those that I had previously met, learn at the workshops, vote for our newly installed District Executives and most importantly create memories that will affect for a lifetime. The most shocking factor for me was when I was rewarded Distinguished President. I was told that many of the greatest presidents I have known from Clark as well as other schools never got it so to have the opportunity to be awarded this award made me extremely happy. In addition, we also got Distinguished Website and Distinguished Secretary. In all, this trip has definitely made it into the books and I wouldn't have it any other way. You only regret the chances you never take. Take this chance to experience something different, something you may never experience again.

Dcon was honestly one of the best experiences in my life. I honestly didn't know what to expect but everything turned out superb. I got to buy a hat from one of my favorite divisions on the first day, and I had been wanting to get a piece of merchandise from them for quite a while now, so my Dcon experience was already off to a great start. The food was pretty okay but I couldn't really eat it because I had recently gotten my braces tightened. It's alright though because the experiences really made up for it. I got to meet wonderful people during the workshops and it was honestly fantastic to see the many people that love Key Club. I believe Dcon really opened my eyes to a whole new world of Key Club and this was truly a turning point, where I realized how much I really do love Key Club. It has strengthened my passion for service and my love for this organization. I really enjoyed the whole experience and I would have never thought that I would see my brother retire at this young age. But It's been a breathtaking adventure of laughter, sorrow, and happiness. I encourage every member to go at least once, to see a new perspective of Key Club and make 9 great memories while doing so.

RELAY FOR LIFE 4.28.17 ă€Œ

My second Relay for Life was an event that I will never forget. As someone who never got to meet their grandfather because of cancer, and as someone who almost lost their other grandfather due to the disease, it was definitely something that hit close to home. The silent walk around the track really makes you think and be more aware about how this disease had such a profound effect on certain people. It was so fun to be able to sell boba to raise money for the cause, and it was great to see so many familiar faces coming together for something that matters. Mr. and Mrs. Relay was super entertaining as well! I'm so proud of PT and Terri for representing Clark and raising money for the American Cancer Society. Though it was a bit cold, this event has brought me closer to so many people, and I can't help but to be grateful for that. At least it didn't rain like last year! If you haven't been to Relay for Life yet, I highly recommend that you go because it's a wonderful experience.

Relay for Life was a really emotional and fun experience for me. It was my first time attending the fundraising event for cancer and it was definitely worth remembering. Although it was really windy on that day just knowing why we were there helped me push through the cold. The whole event was special to me because of how my father had gone through chemotherapy and I knew how hard it was for him during that time (he's okay now). Anyways my favorite memory of the event was when Mr. and Mrs. Relay took place. It surprised me with how everyone looked! Everyone was really talented, and the audience was roaring with laughter and applause. The Mr. Relay represent from SPVHS Key Club spit out fire with their rap but of course Tyler (Terri) with his "rich chigga" look brought it home. All in all, it was pretty fun even though I crashed right when I got home. Hope to see everyone again next year! (P.S. Good job P.T. and Terri!)
