Important Dates 6/30 — 7/4 Kiwanis FireworksBooth
I hope you are all having a great summer so far! I know I am. In July we didn’t have much by way of events, but your board had their first summer board meeting this month and we have a lot planned for you for both the rest of the summer and the school year to come. The one event we had was the Kiwanis Fireworks Booth, which had a great turnout! It was my first time going to that event, but unfortunately I could only attend two of the five days. When I was there, though, I had a lot of fun selling the fireworks, waving signs on the sidewalk, and getting to talk to our members and the present Kiwanians. Congratulations to our members of the month for May and June! We’ve already chosen our MoM for July, but that won’t be announced until the next newsletter. If you want to be a future member of the month, make your leadership shine in future events. Keep up the good work, as always!

LOOKING BACK... Kiwanis Fireworks Booth
Kiwanis Fireworks Booth June 30 - July 4
This summer has been pretty uneventful. Sitting at home and watching Legend of Korra at 2am isn't exactly the most exciting summer. Working at the Kiwanis Fireworks Booth was the most social interaction I've had all summer. It was the first time I have ever step foot in a fireworks booth. Quickly, Ms. Wong taught us the tools of the trade. We quickly adjusted and we were selling fireworks like pros. Not only did we sell fireworks, we all had to promote the booth and wave signs on the sidewalk. Even though we were in the scorching heat, we had fun dancing for passing cars. We even managed to get a couple people to stop by. Working at the Kiwanis Fireworks Booth was fun and gratifying; we raised money for a terrific organization and had fun doing it. I can't wait to do it again next year! Ryan Lim, Kevin Zhang, Kevin Chau, Sheldon Wong, and Ellis Johnson advertising the booth with their hand-made signs

Kiwanis Fireworks Booth
Kiwanis Fireworks Booth The Kiwanis Fireworks Booth was a very fun event! Even though this event was during summer, our members were very enthusiastic about attending! On the last day, I asked some of my friends to come to the booth because while we didn’t have many attendees signed up, the ones who were stayed the whole day. But when I got there, there were so many people! Many of them
hadn’t had a chance to come the rest of the days and wanted to stop by. We made it work, having some people in the booth and some advertising on the street. Overall, a successful event, thanks everyone! - Natalie Zhang
“Buy this firework! Diamonds are a girl’s best friend and it’s called pink diamonds!” - Sheldon Wong
Kiwanis Fireworks Booth The Kiwanis Fireworks Booth was EXTREMELY fun! This was my first year going and I cannot wait for the next years to come. Sadly, I almost went to Town Square instead of the gas station... Whoops. OH WELL! Anyways, we got to stand in 100 degree weather of fun holding and dancing with signs, yelling out to people in their cars, and even singing Firework by Katy Perry while people were walking into the convenient store next to us. Even though all of us (at least me) were sweating like pigs, we got to sell so many fireworks to
people! There was even some people who bought over $150 worth of fireworks. Sheldon Wong had a goal to sell all the Star Voyagers, and he did it! Thanks to all the key clubbers and Ms. Wong, we raised so much money and had such great memories. - Alexis Acob

MEMBERS OF THE MONTH May and June These are Clark Key Club’s choices for our members of the month as of now. These members are being recognized for their leadership, willingness to help others, and spirit for the club and school.
MAY SAM TAO Freshman Sam Tao went above and beyond what was expected of him at the Clark Blood Drive on May 21, 2012. Instead of only completing his tasks and instructions, he took the initiative to organize a wait list system for the whole blood drive and worked other members’ jobs as well. Sam was one of two members who dedicated the entire day to helping out at the blood drive. His efforts helped everything run smoothly, effectively, and mot importantly, efficiently. Without his help, the blood drive would have been a mess. In Division 28 West’s first newsletter for this year, Sam was also recognized as not only the member of the month for our club, but member of the month for the whole division. Congratulations, Sam!

Members of the Month
June Kevin Wang Kevin Wang became Clark's June member of the month by displaying his generosity, concern, and willingness to help the club. To prepare for the park social on June 9th, Kevin donated hundreds of balloons and several buckets used to hold all of the balloons we needed. He also dedicated his first day of summer vacation to joining the officers and helping to inflate 700 of his donated balloons in 3 hours. Kevin has remained interested in service as the summer progressed and helped out at the Kiwanis Fireworks Booth.
DO YOU WANT TO BE MEMBER OF THE MONTH?
To be member of the month, just make sure you showcase your service and love for our key club! We try to put a lot of thought into our choices. If you think you’re doing a good job and the officers haven’t noticed you, don’t worry! We’re watching everyone’s hard work at events and taking note. If you’re working hard, we know! You may be nominated in a later month, so stay tuned!

Greetings, Clark Key Club! I hope you are all enjoying the great summer you had anticipated. I know I’ve definitely been keeping myself busy! Yesterday, I met with the officers for our July Board Meeting. We discussed summer plans, the beginning of the school year, and ideas we have to improve on next year. One new aspect to Clark Key Club will be the addition of Brownie Points. You will get a full description of it during our summer meeting, but until then, just know that many of you are already earning points! As soon as the location confirms, I will inform you of the confirmed date and location of our summer general meeting. I look forward to seeing a lot of you again and I hope you continue to have an exciting summer.
