Hello my lovely Chargers! In light of recent events, I hope that everyone is safe and everyone you know is safe. I don’t think any of us ever expected to see “Las Vegas” plastered over the television or on celebrity social medias. If you ever need anyone to talk to, I’m always here and so is everyone in Key Club. Take care of yourself, and spread the love. With that being said, RTC season is officially here! We are now teaching cheers at every meeting up until RTC, so please try your very best to attend every meeting. Tutorial videos will also be up if you need extra help. Remember, you need to memorize all the cheers! Please look out for upcoming events, such as RTC prep, the car wash (all proceeds go to PTP), and RTC! With all my love, Katlyn Wong

Hello! Once again, events this month filled up our members’ schedules, which I am always happy to see. We’re entering the Halloween festivities as well as RTC season. I know that everybody is stoked for it, so make sure to grab a tutu for only $5 and come to our meetings to learn the cheers! Please memorize the cheers for Clark to “bring that spirit stick here!” I wanted to mention how proud I felt to see all these members volunteering for almost all the service events, especially freshmen members. Great job to everyone for being dedicated to key club overall. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us. Thank you again for joining us to bring light and love to this club. Love, Lyann Gao

Hello Keyclub Freshmen! As your new class rep I wanna say that I am extremely excited for this upcoming year and the challenges that will come our way. First things first, if anybody has any questions or concerns of any kind, please feel free to contact me! I look forward to personally getting to know every single one of you and bonding together in future events! There are many things to expect in the future such as the highly anticipated dance video and RTC. Since we are freshmen, we are often faced with stigma that puts us in a bad position since we're new. This year is our year to put ourselves out there, and with events like RTC and the dance video, I encourage everyone to put forth their best effort and to have a great time!

Hello everyone! I am your sophomore class representative for this year and I am incredibly excited for what this year holds for Key Club. I was anxious about running for this position at first, but now I'm just eager to do the best job I can. Thank you for this opportunity to work alongside the other officers of Key Club! My goal for this term is to go to as many events as I can this year and to connect with all the members, especially Class of 2020. I look forward to seeing everyone at RTC and cheering with other school! Also, make sure you guys come to the meetings, I'm going to start bringing snacks for members who come and sign up for events! 8

Running for class rep was definitely one of the biggest things I’ve done in a long time. It was honestly a bit scary because I didn’t know who I was going to go up against or where to even start.I did my best to write a good speech and practice how I delivered it as well as outlining possible questions and answers for the Q&A portion. When elections came around, I was surprised to find out I was the only one running. I never thought I’d ever run for something in Key Club (or get it), but I’m glad I did, and I’ll make sure to work hard to be a great rep.

It is always a strange feeling, becoming aware of something that you didn’t notice before. Showing affection towards such a thing that had remained submerged in obscurity until you decided to dive down after it. These were my thoughts when I had joined Key Club last year, unknowing of what was to come after I handed my signup forms to Ms. Wong. Fast forward to this moment and I find myself at the helm of the Class of 2018 for a second time, embracing every moment I have left with this amazing community. Nothing I could say or do could convince me otherwise that joining Key Club was, by far, one of the greatest decisions I’ve made during my stay at Clark High School. The friends I have made are innumerable whereas the memories are moreso. When I look upon the new members that had taken the opportunity to see what Key Club is all about, it makes me smile, for I can only dream of the experiences they will find within our happy family. This is my final year here, and I’m thrilled to spend it with my club one last time, with the new members and the old, it’s going to be a phenomenal time.

Hearts Alive Village was honestly one of my favorite events of the year! It gave me the opportunity to spend time with animals and with my key club family! While there, we got to help make you mats for the animals. Let me tell you, those mats were actually pretty cool to meet and the people in charge are super nice. They gave us snacks and drinks and even had a dog walking around! When we were done they also let us play and look around at all the cats and dogs there! There was even a room where you can sit in and chill with cats, like how amazing is that!! If you love animals I definitely suggest going!!

Attending Hearts Alive Village was an experience I will never forget. At first, when I heard that we’d be helping puppies and kittens, I jumped at the opportunity to volunteer. After finding out that we wouldn’t be actually playing with them, I was a little disappointed but never thought of not going because of it. Actually doing the work was a repetitive process, but it was really fun. We cut up tons of fleece into strips to weave and tie super cute play mats for customers to buy for their pets. Everyone got to choose different patterns to combine for their mats and best of all, we actually did get to play with some animals! On top of that, the accomplished feeling of knowing that your work was going to make a difference in a pet’s life felt really good. Overall, Hearts Alive Village was a great and enjoyable experience and I will definitely go again if I get the chance!

9.6.17 Assistance League was a complete blast! As the morning began, the room was filled with productivity. We worked in groups and formed an assembly line. We bonded over time from cutting tags and making labels. In the end, we worked together as a team in order to get things done.

Ride for Kids was one of my favorite events! It was very early in the morning, but despite it being so early, it was still very enjoyable. We had certain instructions dependent on the group that we were in. Each group had a different direction, and thus we were placed in different spots. The directions were for the motorcyclists that participated in the event. As they entered, we cheered them on. Later, we were placed at different positions around Town Square because the motorcyclists were reentering. We continued to cheer them on throughout the day. My group had lots of fun because we bonded throughout the day. We had lots of laughs- I got to learn more about others in our club and make new friends. This is definitely one of my favorite service events that I’ve been to so far, and I’ll definitely attend again.

Being able to volunteer at Opportunity Village was a different experience. Instead of being the one to receive all the holiday spirit, we were the ones delivering it. It was so interesting to see the development taking place, and to know that we contributed to it. In the couple hours that we were there, we were able to work with strangers, peers, and also friends to finish each task. Who knew it’d be so much work? Despite me not being able to handle a hot glue gun, I was ecstatic about being able to contribute and partake in such an event that is a mainstay in the Las Vegas Valley, my home.
