Carter Fall/Spring Semester

Project Description Students will demonstrate ethical behavior in regards to plagiarism in addition to communicating effectively through writing, modeling work readiness traits in the workplace, practicing respectful and responsible use of technology, and applying references in a document while reading and summarizing a short story following FBLA report format guides. Daily Assignments/Activities:    

Students learn about plagiarism, citations, and references. o How: Teacher will present What is Plagiarism PowerPoint to the class to discuss plagiarism, how to cite material correctly, and how to include references in a report. Students learn about plagiarism in depth. o How: Students use the article “Nine Things You Should Already Know About Plagiarism” to research and answer 15 questions. Students learn about the short story, “Saved” written by Richard Turnbull. o How: Teacher provides a link to the short story and also reads the short story aloud to the class. Students correctly format a report using FBLA format guide while summarizing a short story avoiding plagiarism. o How: Teacher provides A Short Story in My Own Words rubric, pages 13-15 of the FBLA Format Guide, Tips on Writing a Summary, and a link to the Citation Machine website for students to use in creating their summary.

Project-Based Instruction 2 Introduction to Business & Technology

Carter Fall Semester

Project Description Students will use presentation software, create and deliver simple, clear and compelling presentations effectively to target audiences. Each student will be assigned one of the following categories: Informative, How To, or Persuasive. They will be allowed to choose their own topic as long as it is school appropriate in which to create their presentation about. Students will present their presentation to the class. Being the first PowerPoint presented to the class, students are offered constructive criticism on their presentation skills. Daily Assignments/Activities: 



Students learn how to present successfully. o How: Teacher will present Giving a Good Presentation PowerPoint to the class to show videos of presentation tips, good presenters, and bad presenters. Students create clear presentation geared toward their target audience and present to the class. o How: Teacher provides Target Audience Presentation rubric. During presentations, teacher writes down constructive criticism for students to view for next presentation opportunity.

Stop Signs • These signs mean you should apply the brakes and come to a COMPLETE stop and look for oncoming traffic. • They sometimes can be hard to see so make sure you look out for them! • If you are caught "rolling" a stop sign you could be fined up to $100 and may have to go to TRAFFIC SCHOOL.

Traffic Lights • Traffic lights are VERY important to pay

attention to. • If you accidentally (or purposely) run a red light not only could you be fined you could get into an accident and be hatt or even killed! • Pay attention to the light when its yellow and DO NOT try to get through the red light!

Project Description Students will work together as teams to create an attractive and eye catching advertisement used to entice customers to a new innovative project designed by the team. Students will use their imagination, creativity, and skills to research a company and the things it has done over the years to keep its customers coming. Using this information, students will ultimately create a new product for the company. Daily Assignments/Activities: 

Students learn about the Fundamentals of marketing. o How: Teacher will present Fundamentals of Marketing PowerPoint to the class to discuss the four Ps of marketing. Students learn about innovation in business. o How: Teacher will present Innovation of Business PowerPoint to the class to discuss how business innovate and the need for change. Students create an attractive advertisement which should entice customers to purchase their new invention/product/service. o How: Teacher provides Innovation in Business rubric for students to use in creating their advertisement.

Then the shop moved to the other side of San Francisco Bay and began designing and manufac uring its own brand of mountaineering apparel. Now the business has grown tremendously째 ) The mos recent innovations include the Womens resolve jacket, Women1 surge jacket and the Tuolomne tent.

Our new innovative idea is a tent with electricity and wall outlets. The solar panels charge up during the day and allow you to use some energy, but it reserves 90% of it for night or darkness. Wall outlets are hooked up throughout the tent and the solar panels power those.
