Welcome & Course Description Using web design as the platform for product design and presentation, students will create and learn digital media applications using elements of text, graphics, animation, sound, video and digital imaging for various format. The digital media and interactive media projects developed and published showcase the student skills and ability. Emphasis will be placed on effective use of tools for interactive multimedia production including storyboarding, visual development, project management, digital citizenship, and web processes. Students will create and design web sites that incorporate digital media elements to enhance content of web site. Various forms of technologies will be used to expose students to resources, software, and applications of media. Professional communication skills and practices, problem-solving, ethical and legal issues, and the impact of effective presentation skills are enhanced in this course to prepare students to be college and career ready. Employability skills are integrated into activities, tasks, and projects throughout the course standards to demonstrate the skills required by
business and industry. Competencies in the co-curricular student organization, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), are integral components of the employability skills standard for this course. Digital Design is the second course in the Web and Digital Design pathway in the Information Technology cluster. Students enrolled in this course should have successfully completed Introduction to Digital Technology and Fundamentals.

WEB AND DIGITAL DESIGN PATHWAY
Issue Date Mission and Philosophy Statement Business and Computer Science is an integral part of the total education program. Its mission is to develop and apply the use of technology and business concepts that are essential for all students. Business and Computer Science teaches the necessary information to develop critical-thinking, problem-solving, decisionmaking, and teamworking skills to prepare students for entry-level employment and postsecondary education. The Business and Computer Science curriculum is designed, delivered, evaluated, and updated to provide flexible opportunities for career exploration necessitated by our changing world. INTERNET USAGE IN CLASS SETTING In order to enhance student learning, students will use the Internet daily as a resource tool for this class. While in a Business and Computer Science lab, students will comply with the Technology Use Policy for Cook County Schools. Failure to follow county mandated guidelines would result in punishment that ranges from loss of privileges to administrative referral. All students and parents are required to sign acknowledgement of Internet guidelines prior to a student using the Internet.

Positions: Billing Clerks, Bank Tellers, Accounting Clerks, Secretaries, receptionists, Business Executives, Buyers, Cashiers, Pharmacists, Engineers, Computer Operators, Computer Programmers, Teachers, Counselors, Data Entry Operators, Architects, Technicians, Graphic Artists, Media Specialists, Multimedia Designers, Network Managers, Personnel Clerks, and Web Designers. ARTICULATION/COLLEGE CREDIT Articulation is a partnership agreement between Wiregrass Georgia Technical College and our school system that allows a student to earn college credit for courses taken in high school. Specific requirements to receive credit apply. Cook High is not currently offering articulation of Intro to Digital Design.
Future Business Leaders of America FBLA is a co-curricular student organization in Business and Computer Science that promotes leadership, career planning, community service, and social networking. Membership is strongly encouraged for all students enrolled in this course. Dues are $25.00 for local, state, and national membership. Dues may be paid in my classroom, and any checks should be made payable to Cook High FBLA.

Grading Procedures: Assignment grades will be given on work done in class, homework, quizzes, tests, and/or projects. The number of these assignments will vary each grading period. Some grades (tests, projects) will be counted more than once. These will be averaged together and reflect the eight weeks grade. The student learning objective (SLO) counts 20% of the second 8 weeks grade. A = 90-100 B = 80-89 C = 70-79 F = 69 and below Weighted Grades - Grades for honors level classes will be increased by 2 points each semester. Grades for Advanced Placement courses will be increased by 4 points each semester.

BATHROOM PASSES: You will be permitted 5 restroom passes; use them wisely. If you must go to the restroom after you have used all 5 of your passes, each time you go to the restroom will be an assignment to Restricted Lunch. Reserve your passes for emergencies only. If you have not used all of your passes at the end of the semester, you may turn them in for extra credit.
