Heart Health – A Story of Recovery According to studies, nearly half of Americans have some kind a of heart condition. Though many suffer with heart issues, those who overcome the odds and improve their heart health have stories that reveal strength and determination in the face of adversity. Join us to hear the incredible story of Dr. David Metcalf, director of UCF’s Mixed Emerging Technology Integration Lab, and how he fully recovered from a serious heart condition. Learn how he used a combination of medical care, lifestyle modification and supporting technology to improve his heart health. Dr. Metcalf will be joined by a special guest cardiologist who will share heart-smart ways to keep you healthy. Tuesday, February 2, 1 pm

Virtual CarFit - Finding Comfort in Your Vehicle

Traveling by car is a fact of life for most people but let’s face it, our cars aren’t always the most comfortable places to be. Because each person is unique, you may require different settings behind the wheel, not only for your comfort but for your safety. Join Fran Carlin Rogers, AARP’s Driver Safety National CarFit coordinator, to learn how well you currently fit in your vehicle and simple ways to improve your fit.

Stress Less - Nature, Video Games and Aerobic Activity

Many adults are now looking to video games both to alleviate boredom and relieve stress. In the case of stress reduction, does video game playing really work? The Technology and Aging Lab in the Department of Psychology at University of Central Florida (UCF) has investigated various methods of reducing stress, including video games, exposure to nature, and virtual reality. Join Dr. Daniel McConnell, associate Psychology professor at UCF, as he discusses these research findings.
