GIVING WITH PURPOSE

It seems only yesterday that Sandy Martin, Past National President, installed me as CHW’s 24th National President at the AGM in Toronto. It is truly hard to believe that my term is coming to an end this fall.

This has been an exciting and gratifying journey! The last two years have been filled with amazing experiences and wonderful, caring people. During my tenure, I have grown to know and appreciate our projects in Israel even more, and made personal connections with extraordinary people in Israel and here, in Canada. I am grateful for the support of our devoted volunteers and donors, who invest in our mission of passionately supporting programs and services for Children, Healthcare, and Women in Israel and Canada, and work hard to help achieve it.

As we were achieving new heights with over five million dollars raised last year, the COVID-19 pandemic struck. Once we recovered from the initial shock of all our event cancellations from coast-to-coast, we began to adapt to a new reality. We ventured into the less familiar territory of Zoom meetings and virtual events. We had to move very quickly in order to ensure that our organization not only survives during these unprecedented and challenging times, but also provides critical support to the frontline workers at our projects and services in Israel and Canada. I am extremely proud to let you know that we wrapped up our fiscal year on June 30th with four million dollars raised!!! I would like to take this opportunity to thank our dedicated Board of Directors, who held monthly meetings to ensure appropriate strategy during the pandemic; the Budget and Finance Committee, who worked very closely with Alina Ianson, National Executive Director, on a contingency plan and resource management; as well as all of you, our loyal supporters. Without your support, CHW would not be able to touch the lives of so many people. For over 100 years, CHW has been making a positive and lasting impact on the very fabric of Israeli society and improving lives all around the world.

This is why we exist, to improve lives and ensure our Jewish Homeland is a secure and flourishing place. Every individual deserves to live in security, where they will have the opportunity to thrive. CHW is helping to make that dream a reality, thanks to all of you. Thank you for being such wonderful and generous supporters. Your philanthropy, vision, dedication, and support of Israel is changing the world.
