WHOLEFOODS MARKET & HEALTHY-EATING TREND Recently, wholefoods market opened a new store here at Englewood Area in Chicago, which shows the potential of healthy-eating trend to be spreaded here. WholeCity foundation is a non-profit organization that is a part of Wholefoods market that aims at creating a community that is dedicated to healthy-eating habit across the nation and the world.
CHILDREN THAT CONNETS After interviewing with the community specialist at wholefoods market at Englewood Area store. Children became my priority because adults around the neighbourhood seems to be indifferent about the healty-eating concept, while children are always curious about all the new things. Teaching Children about healthy eating would be a perfect start for this trend to be spreaded.
PROGRAM THAT CONNECTS: Sunken Education Space, Ramp and Platform, Tall open space.
FACADE THAT CONNECTS: For inner facade, the idea is to engage Aquapon Systerm into tha wall. The knitting of the wood veneer provides different types of interaction with children. The installation of Aquapons vertically gives the visual engagement with children and the large knitting veneer offers children a place to sit.
STRUCTURE THAT CONNECTS: Structurally, it aims at forming a shelter for children in the neighbourhood in a sense of safety. It is obvioulsy significant to create a space for children to feel that they are at home when they are away from their parents.
