We have teamed up with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) to offer a selection of their CPD courses. This is part of a strategic collaboration with the CIPD to foster closer working links between the finance and HR professions which includes boosting knowledge development and understanding through learning by providing appropriate training and CPD courses. See page 26 for the courses available.
CPD CPD is a mandatory requirement not just for CIMA members but for members of other accountancy bodies as well.
Courses are led by qualified speakers who have the relevant practical industry experience that is essential to help update and broaden your knowledge and know-how. They will ensure you are fully prepared to apply what you have learnt to your day-to-day work as soon as you leave the training room.
CIMA professional development, the continuing professional development scheme for CIMA members, gives you the freedom to choose how you are going to develop. CIMA Mastercourses can form an effective part of this scheme. CIMA doesn’t prescribe numbers of hours or units, you do as much as you need to remain professionally competent and advance your career.
Mastercourses are open for all finance, management and support staff, not just CIMA members, and are held at locations across the UK.
For more information on CIMA’s professional development programme visit: www.cimaglobal.com/cpd
New for 2014
CPD hours are included for each course in this brochure for members of those professional bodies where CPD hours are required.
A number of new courses and topics are being introduced for 2014, of which several are of particular note.
CIMA corporate services
From 2015 UK GAAP will no longer be an option to companies. UK GAAP will be replaced by FRS 102 (the new UK reporting framework). The UK Accounting Standards Board have issued three new financial reporting standards (FRS 100, FRS 101 and FRS 102), that will replace all current FRSs and SSAPs by 2015.
If a more flexible and cost-effective approach to meeting your organisation’s learning and development needs is required you can choose CIMA corporate services. Select from in-house training, our Corporate Discount Scheme, CIMA on demand – our online CPD solution, or combine all three. See pages 2-3 for more information.
To help you understand these changes we are introducing several courses: • First-time adoption workshop (IFRS and FRS 102) • New UK GAAP – FRS 102 a comprehensive overview • New UK GAAP – FRS 102 introduction • New UK GAAP – FRS 102 key differences. Whether you are an accountant, banker, administrator or a manager, it is difficult to get by these days without using Excel. It’s a tool that has been around for years and has evolved in such a way that it is now one of the indispensable tools of office life. However, as with all modern IT applications, there is the right way to use it, and the wrong way. Not only that, but unless you are a professional Excel user, then you are probably using less than 5% of its functionality.
Discounts Member discounts CIMA members and students get 10% off courses. CIMAplus subscribers can benefit from a 20% discount. Multiple bookings Save up to 30% when you book five or more CIMA run events by joining the CIMA Corporate Discount Scheme. See page 3 for details. Late availability discounts Half price places are available for selected groups, including CIMA registered students and those who work in the public sector, on selected courses in the two weeks before they are held. See page 28 or visit www.cimamastercourses.com/offers for more information.
Our financial modelling training courses will not only open your eyes to some incredibly useful Excel functionality, but also show you how to get the best out of it. As a result you will not only be much better able to do your job, but colleagues will be seeking you out for help and guidance. Courses available include: • Comprehensive financial modelling • Excel essentials for financial modelling.
