No matter where you go in the world, it’s not a secret that you’ll find an abundance of pets who, naturally, need to be groomed!

The industry is always growing, with new tech and styles appearing in every nook and cranny constantly. With the internet, we’re able to connect and share these ideas with our international friends in an instant!

Naturally, opening up a bigger world could potentially have some downfall. You’re going to want to try extra hard to stand out among the crowd, especially with the thousands upon thousands of groomers who are using the internet today!

What can make you unique? Some Asian-inspired pet colouring, or maybe even some classic American grooms may compliment your needs such as a Puppy Cut.

Creativity is important, and we find that one of the best ways to get some extra inspiration for your dog grooming business is to seek international results.

Being unique isn’t as simple as simply finding a style and applying it to your work, however. It’s important to note that a lot of these magical international grooms can take years to master!

Different countries have varying levels of education for their grooms, with different standards that can take everything that one step further.

We recommend finding some events that are local to your and your business to start with. Or, if you’re feeling extra adventurous, maybe you could grab some friends and consider a trip abroad to really get the true travel feeling. Grooming events can be found all around the world, so take some time to find some that best suit your needs.

Social media is obviously a key factor in the growth of the industry. We check almost every day on the latest trends and hashtags that international groomers are using, and recommend that you all do too to stay on top of the newest, furriest fads!

Now, with aloof the above information to process, let’s take a look at a couple of highlights from some different countries…

South Korea

In South Korea, there are over one hundred dog grooming schools with thousands of groomers graduating each year. The grooming industry is still growing there, and showing no signs of stopping!

China

In some places around the world, such as China, stylists are required to have a licence. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as it demonstrates your education through and through! There isn’t anything wrong with being thorough!

Brazil

In Brazil, you can find many dog grooming competitions, such as the Sergio Vallasanti Grooming Event. This contest started in 2000 when Sergio Villasanti brought it to Brazil for the first time!

Sergio is now an international speaker and judge within the dog grooming world.

Australia

In Australia, you can find two types of schools where groomers can train. There is the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) or you can go private.

Depending on the groomer’s requirements, one or the other may suit different needs!

Japan

We love, love, LOVE Asian Fusion when it comes to dog grooming! Japan is most notable for this particular style of grooming. Take to Instagram to browse some competitions or portfolio pages if you’re on the lookout for some adorable Asian Fusion grooms!

In parts of Japan, a standard groom compared to Asian Fusion is actually considered uncommon!

Usa

Mobile grooming is getting bigger and bigger in the United States of America! We’re often finding out more and more information on the pros of mobile grooming, so please head to our Mobile Grooming Feature in this issue to find out more!
