Now, we understand just as much as the next person how these daunting business-minded phrases can be. However, that’s why we’re here to help introduce you to the concept of CPD. Let’s dive in…
So, we’ve had a brief look at what CPD is and what it can mean for your business in our essential five. Now, let’s really take a closer look to examine CPD and how it can have a positive effect on your dog grooming business.
CPD stands for continuing professional development and ultimately involves developing yourselves to further expand your skill set and knowledge as you work. Think of it as an apprenticeship almost, but more advanced.
This will encourage you to expand out of your comfort zone, as well as provide some guidelines that will help you explore this fantastic industry [dog grooming] further. As mentioned in our essential five, this can range from talks to mentoring, to first-hand experience doing what you love with your canine companions.
If you’re an educator in the dog grooming industry, you understand how important it is to stand out from the crowd. If your training is CPD certified, this can mean that it has achieved some higher standards. Any people who take part in CPD-certified activities will have, by definition, completed a CPD course.
CPD-accredited content has been noticed for its relevance and quality within the industry. This will assure people that the benefits included will really be applicable to an individual’s work.
If you commit to learning in a CPD course, the results and return can be incredibly high for a business so we suggest taking a look where you can!
Technically, CPD isn’t a qualification as it’s a slightly different learning style than what would normally be applicable, however, it’s still seen as something that is highly invaluable within the industry.
Long story short, you won’t receive a qualification but you’ll receive skills that would be recognised in a vastly different way, boosting your career drastically, if done right.
Adding CPD to a list of your achievements as a groomer is something that shouldn’t be looked past. It shows that you’re dedicated to going above and beyond, even if there technically isn’t a qualification to go alongside it all. Plus, it shows that you really know your stuff!
One thing to note, however, is that CPD points can exist. These aren’t quite UCAS points, however, they are still something to note down as some employers may require a set annual amount. We recommend keeping track simply for personal development, too!
Speaking of employers, some may keep an eye out for CPD when hiring! No matter what sector of the dog grooming industry you’re in, you’ll want to appear your best. We don’t see a downside!
CPD courses are generally recognised as legitimate, certified achievements. This will essentially leave a huge “stamp of approval” on your portfolio.
Overall, take away that CPD accreditation is something invaluable to add to any training course, and it will demonstrate that you carry a lot of experience in the field. It shows that learners can really achieve their personal goals.
CPD accreditation can really help you become a trusted education provider if that’s the route you’re going down.
It’s not uncommon to see someone create their own training course, and you’ll see many jumping on the same train to expand what they can offer the grooming industry.
CPD can massively help certain educators stand out amongst the crowd. It demonstrates an added layer to add something extra, so you know that you’re really getting the best of what’s available to you.
There are a fraction of the educators who create their own courses who truly know what it means to provide excellence in the industry, so ensure that you keep an eye out for them.
There are standards set to support educators who strive for excellence, so having an accredited mark will absolutely help you to communicate with your fellow groomers that you’ve made your mark.
CPD Accreditation is for educators who strive to deliver world-class training and enhance their professional field. If you offer a CPD Accredited course, you can demonstrate your commitment to wanting to better the future of the grooming industry, as an educator.
One thing that’s not been mentioned is that it’s a fantastic way to network! Being accredited opens the door to hundreds of professionals who are all striving for the same goals - to help better our industry and to see it thrive.
Naturally, it always comes down to this hard part… Can you afford to invest in being CPD accredited? It honestly does depend o the type of learning that you commit yourself to, the types of which we mentioned earlier. Luckily for you though, there may be payment plans available to suit your needs. The best advice that we can give is to do your research and see what the best fit for you is.
So, how long does being accredited last? Well, it can range, depending on how you choose to proceed with everything. With the CPD Standards Office, for example, membership is for a minimum of two years. This can then roll on, depending on what you choose to do from then on out.
Overall, we want to stretch that there are simply so many benefits to getting yourself CPD certified. If you’re an educator with your own course, it simply makes sense to boost yourself in this fantastic, ever-growing industry.
Whether you’re looking to get yourself CPD certified or not, you can never learn enough about the industry you’re in and CPD certifications are a part of that. Do some research and hey, who knows? You might just find yourself searching for the next best thing in your grooming career!
