Naturally…
In recent years within the dog grooming industry, there has been an increase in natural pet products and remedies. This is seen as a plus, so let’s explore why…
More and more companies, groomers and individual brands are exploring the options that come with healthier, sustainable solutions to use when it comes to pet care.
The benefits of using natural products are almost unmatched in some sectors, so it might not be a bad thing if you were to invest in some for your grooming business!
Using natural products can promote effective skin and coat care, a mustknow for groomers and pet owners alike! Silicones may provide artificial smoothness to a hair follicle, however, this may be stripping natural oils from a coat and we don’t want that.
Instead, take a look at products that might derive from natural substances, coconut oil for example. When natural ingredients are used in products correctly, you’ll find that they are a much better alternative to the more unnatural products that you may find. Natural options provide conditioning properties that will greatly enhance a dog’s coat.
Aside from the hair itself, skin irritation is something else that can get in the way of having a happy pup. On the daily, dogs are exposed to so many irritants to their skin, whether they are cleaning products or even simply living in a polluted area. Chemical-based products add to this, only causing more harm in the long run. This can lead to long-term skin conditions.
By switching to natural, a dog may be exposed to less toxic chemicals every day. Consider using natural dog shampoos and your clients will be grateful! Don’t forget that using a natural conditioner alongside will help hydrate and repair some damage.
Whilst a dog is being bathed, their skin is exposed to ingredients that they are soaking in. Similarly to how good things are absorbed into the skin, bad things are just as easily and this could lead to some long-lasting health issues that your clients simply won’t want for their fluffy friends.
We can’t emphasise the importance of using non-toxic shampoos and conditioners enough. This will leave your clients at ease that their furry pals will be safe and healthy for the foreseeable future. Especially when considering that some dogs are known to eat a lot of things they shouldn’t!
Similarly to humans, a dog’s skin has one of the biggest jobs in the human body, being a barrier to all of the nasty things outside of it and keeping them out! That being said, it’s important to not use any chemical-based products that can cause harm to the skin. A dog’s natural immune system is essentially boosted when using more natural products.
Now, this next point is somewhat of a no-brainer to most (we hope) but it still needs to be talked about. Animal testing is no joke, and there are still so many products that are tested on our friends that are extremely harmful. Some brands, such as Doglyness, commit to crueltyfree products and you can rest easy knowing that the products that you use don’t harm any animals. Always do your research before buying!
Speaking of friendliness, being ecofriendly is also something that should be taken into consideration when looking at what you’re putting on your canine companions!
Luckily, we’re finding that a lot more people in 2023 are looking to be more ecologically friendly and are doing their part for the greater good of Mother Earth. Using natural dog products also play a huge part in this, as there are so many benefits to the environment such as not washing away toxic chemicals down the drain whenever you bathe a dog.
Lastly, think of your clients. The impact that this can have on their pets is incomparable to so many things. Even simply letting them know of a way that they can be using more natural products can have such a huge impact on so many lives. Even just talking them through your products and process.
Word of mouth is a strong thing, after all. They may explain the importance to their fellow dog owners and, you may even get some new clientele out of it!
Ultimately, it’s crucial that you really do take some time to research the products that you’re using. If you’re environmentally conscious, then that’s amazing! Please keep going. If you’re looking to be better at animal skincare then that too, is a fantastic mindset to have. We can’t stretch the importance of these factors enough, and we hope that
