Eff ort underway to help forgotten victims of Clermont County deadly police standoff Sheila Vilvens | Cincinnati Enquirer | USA TODAY NETWORK

Many lives were changed permanently the February night Wade Winn allegedly opened fi re from his apartment at Royal Oaks Apartments in Pierce Township. The situation developed into a 12-hour standoff . Clermont County Sheriff ’s Deputy Bill Brewer died from gunshot wounds he sustained on the scene. Lt. Nick DeRose was injured. There was also a fi re in the apartment building where Winn lived. Eleven families were displaced that night. They were also nearly forgotten, according to Craig Bailey of the Christian Help Center in Batavia. Like the families of the fallen and injured offi cers, the families who lost nearly everything that night in the fi re need help, he said. Bailey made identifying and helping the families his mission. State Farm Insurance Agent Alison Taylor was aware families were displaced by the fi re. She said she waited to learn if one of her clients was impacted. About two days after the incident, Taylor said she had her answer. She off ered no names but said one of her clients came in looking for help. She was the only one of the 11 who had renter's insurance, Taylor said. Her needs, however, were greater than a cash reimbursement alone could help, she said. Stay in the know on local news:Subscribe for unlimited access to Cincinnati.com. She was in need of emotional support, assistance in fi nding new housing, a job, Taylor said. The needs

the CFO at Worldpay. With an “attitude determines altitude” approach to life and career, the mother of two has been a trailblazer. She created and grew two women’s networks that were the fi rst affi nity groups at Worldpay and Fifth Third Bank. She was the fi rst female general manager at Worldpay and is the fi rst female chief fi nancial offi cer at the company. The secret to her success, she said, is found in the goals she sets for herself and her team. Together they apply a “quest for excellence” approach in all that they do. Jodi Geiser, 54, of West Chester is a partner at Americas Tax Finance and Operate, EY. Saying yes to new opportunities and being willing to work herself out of a job is what elevated her to the top of her profession.

Geiser’s career spans for more than 30 years with roles in industry, professional services, and outsourcing. On her pathway to success, she achieved many notable fi rsts including being the fi rst woman tax partner at EY Cincinnati offi ce and being the founder of the fi rst Women’s Business Resource Group in Cincinnati (now part of Connect ERG/Diverse by Design). Whatever the assignment, Geiser embraces it, even in her personal life. Perhaps this is most evident in one of her greatest challenges, becoming an instant mother to her husband’s three sons. It’s here where she also experienced one of the greatest tragedies of her life, the loss of a child. The couple’s oldest son, an Army medic, was killed in Iraq.
