Dear Members of the Hammond Community and Our Guests,
Welcome to another great season of athletic competition at Hammond. Whether you have been a Skyhawk supporter for many years, or are visiting our campus for the first time, I hope you find your experience enjoyable. In keeping with our highly successful tradition, the 2022-2023 school year promises to be an impressive one, whether in the classrooms, the arts studios, on the playing fields, or in service to others.
While Hammond has a tradition of being at the forefront of academic excellence, the school experience is further defined by co-curricular activities that help students discover and nurture talents. We begin our 57th spring season with a cumulative 157 state championship wins, an impressive history for a relatively young school. This athletic success has played an integral role in helping foster a sense of shared loyalty within our school community that spans decades and generations.
While winning games is a priority, life lessons in teamwork, commitment, discipline, leadership, sportsmanship, perseverance, and sacrifice are often taught on the playing field. Not only is our goal to build champions and pursue championships, but to build young people of character who are prepared for the journey ahead.
Thank you for being here to support our student-athletes. Your presence and positive sportsmanship help contribute to the spirit that defines Hammond. I am honored to be a member of the Hammond community and wish every Skyhawk team the best of luck!

Dear Skyhawk Fans and Visiting Guests,
This year marks the 57th season of athletics at Hammond. For a relatively young school, we have amassed an impressive record of state championship wins and reached a level of athletic participation not always seen in other programs. Nearly 95% of our students, from grades 6th - 12th, play one or more sports in a given school year. With an overall record of 157 state championship wins, we pride ourselves on excellence in all facets of the Hammond experience.
Here at Hammond, we strive to develop the intellectual, physical, social, and moral strength of each student, and to provide a multitude of opportunities in which this can happen. Realizing that academics is the backbone of our program, we believe athletics plays a vital role in helping students become champions not only on the field, but in the classrooms and in life.
We are pleased to have you join us. Thank you for supporting our student-athletes.
Go Skyhawks!
Jeff Barnes Athletic Director
Dear Skyhawk Fans and Guests, Hammond is widely regarded as the most successful SCISA program in the state. As successful as Hammond teams are on the field, the Athletic Department’s stated goal to develop the intellectual, physical, social and moral strength of each student-athlete provides a lasting and enduring benefit that each student-athlete will carry with them in the classroom and life.
Starting in pre-kindergarten, Hammond ensures that all of its students are involved in and benefit from the community fostered and supported by the Hammond Athletic Department. As proud parents of one Hammond Alumni and a current Junior, both of whom started Hammond in pre-kindergarten and participated in multiple sports dating back to 6th grade, my wife and I witnessed the immeasurable benefits our children experienced from Hammond’s dedication to its athletic programs. From their excitement to participating in pep rallies and attending games as Junior Skyhawks to raising State Championship trophies as varsity athletes, both of our boys owe much of their personal growth and success to their participation in Hammond Athletics.
Go Skyhawks!
