a victori NJR Candidates Diversity Workshop
Our two amazing NJR candidates ran a session where we got to discuss communication with our regions and start planning cool project and activities to help us get more connected with our neighbouring chapters.
The JB took part in an amazing joint session with the adults. It was the longest session of the weekend, but also the most impactful. We discussed what diversity is and the need for CISV to change and adapt with the world around us. We discussed the difference between the needs we have and the needs we serve, which helped us recognize how we might change in the future to remain important to our members and communities.
Apples to Pie Apples to Pie is a resource made by CISV Norway that goes thorough all the necessary steps involved in taking your ideas and making them into awesome activities and projects. We worked in small groups and went thought the steps with our own ideas.
International Structure Communication
Santana ran a very informative session on the structure of JB on an international level. Teaching us about all the Regions and Neighbourhoods of JB across the globe. We even got to meet some really cool people including the IJRs Flora and Gaspard and our AJB team liaison Pedro.

One half of the final commsquad was all it took to run this session. Evelyn did a wonderful job outlining what the JBCC does through the year. She also reviewed our social media policy and guidelines with the JB.

Motions
Town Halls
1 - NJR alternate - PASSED JB Canada passed a motion to make the NJR candidate with the second highest number of votes the NJR alternate.
Town Halls are a great way for JBers from across the country to bring up topics that resonate with their own chapters. This year we discussed adult-JB relations, recruitment, retention of participants of all ages, as well as ways to keep the eh team active and motivated within their given roles.
2 - National JB Exec - PASSED This motion created five new regional positions on the National Exec and will allow for the current eh team focus their efforts mainly on their projects.
Dime Drive
3 - Terms of Reference - PASSED Our bylaws are not legally bylaws so we changed their name to Terms of Reference.
JB Canada absolutely slay’d the Dime Drive this year, raising $1389.34!!! for the JB scholarship Fund which is used to help send JBers to international events, like AJBM and IJBC. CISV Calgary slay’d the hardest winning the dime drive and becoming the second ever to do so.
4 - Local Election Procedure - TABLED Our DCCs proposed a standardized election procedure, while this motion was not passed in its original form, JB Canada as agreed that having regular local elections is necessary, and has agreed to implement one at each chapter. 5 - JB voting members and procedure PASSED JB Canada’s voting members now include the two NJRs, 11 LJRs, five Regional positions (see motion 3), these voting members will attend NBM as well as four QBMs throughout the year, allowing for changes to JB Canada to be made more regularly if needed.
