HIGHER EDUCATION PROGRAMMES A Foundation Degree is a 2 year university level course that will lead to a Foundation Degree qualification of FdA or FdSc. Students who complete the Foundation Degree will have the option to apply for a one year top-up honours degree, BA (Hons) or BSc (Hons) at a British University. Our Foundation Degrees are taught through a mix of lectures, practical sessions and tutorials by our well-qualified staff team. Many tutors combine teaching with their own freelance careers and professional practice, so they can help students make the link between the classroom and the workplace. We have an annual programme of guest speakers from industry.
City College Brighton offers industry-standard recording studios, photography studios, art workshops, professional kitchens and science and computing laboratories.
Employability All of our courses will prepare students for careers or further study in their chosen fields. Teaching and learning is professionally focused through work-placements, access to real employers, entry into national competitions and student-led events and projects.
Entry Requirements
All courses require a minimum English level IELTS 6.0 (6.0 in writing) or the equivalent. Each course has individual requirements, please contact us for more detailed information.

Music Production
The Arts & Art Management Foundation Degree is ideal for students who want to develop a professional career in the creative and cultural sector; and to acquire direct experience of the many areas of arts management. Brighton is home to England’s biggest curated mixed arts festival, attracting some of the most innovative artists and companies from the UK and around the world. Our tutors will support you to get involved with this world class arts festival.
Whether you are an aspiring musician or recording artist, you’ll find fewer places in the UK that are as obsessed with music as Brighton. Brighton boasts a variety of excellent live music venues and some of the most popular music festivals and club nights in the UK. City College offers state-of-the-art recording facilities featuring two live rooms, three analogue and digital control rooms and Mac suites with Logic Pro, Pro Tools and Sibelius. Throughout your course you will have tutorial support from creative and committed music industry professionals.
