WELCOME TO CITY COLLEGE BRIGHTON Helen Kellar International Manager
A very warm welcome to City College Brighton. We are a government college of further education with accreditation from the British Council for our English language provision. We were established over 100 years ago and have a long tradition of welcoming international students from all over the world. We have around 2700 full time students, in addition to over 450 international students from around 40 different countries. This diverse mix of cultures and backgrounds creates a vibrant college environment and welcoming community. You will be immersed in an established British college, on our academic and vocational courses you will learn alongside UK students. We offer modern quality classroom materials and exceptional facilities, such as subject specific workshops and studios, our learning resource centre, cafeteria, IT suites, gym and restaurant. We are proud of our students and their achievements. Academic success and personal wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. City College Brighton is located in the heart of one of Europe’s most vibrant cities. The city is famous for its elegant historical architecture, exciting nightlife and varied arts and cultural scene. Brighton is located on the south coast of England, less than an hour from London and within easy reach of major airports. It offers a unique mixture of beach, city and countryside. It is often described as ‘Little London by the sea’ but unlike the UK’s capital it is stress-free and easy to walk around. Student ACCOMMODATION We understand that your accommodation is an important part of your stay and that you should be happy and comfortable with whatever choice you make. All of our accommodation is thoroughly checked and monitored in accordance with the standards set out in the British Council’s Accreditation UK Scheme. We visit each of our hosts and we aim to place you in a homestay that suits your needs. We offer two accommodation options for students; homestay accommodation and self-catering residential accommodation.

Homestay will give you the perfect introduction to life in the UK and will help you to improve your English much faster. You will immerse yourself in a local household and learn about British culture in a welcoming and comfortable environment.
Self-catering residential is a great option for students who wish to live in a British home but want more independence. You can enjoy the company of your host and other people in the house but will have the freedom to buy and cook your own meals.

IELTS EXAM PREPARATION IELTS is the International English Language Testing System and is accepted by thousands of institutions worldwide. It is recognised internationally by universities, workplaces and governments as an assessment of your English language proficiency. It is suitable if you are planning to attend an academic or vocational course at any UK institution, or if you plan to apply for an Englishspeaking university for an undergraduate or postgraduate course. JUNIOR SUMMER PROGRAMME We work with our trusted and experienced partner, ELAC study vacations to offer a varied summer programme for younger learners. This programme will help younger learners to: • Rapidly improve English language skills. • Learn about British life and culture. • Make new friends from many different countries. This is a multinational programme, combining 15 hours of English language tuition per week with evening and weekend excursions. INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION PROGRAMMES The International Foundation Programme is a one-year academic programme designed to prepare you for undergraduate study in the UK. This programme provides academic preparation for first year entry into university. It will enable you to meet the English language requirement to get accepted on to your chosen undergraduate degree.

FOUNDATION DIPLOMA IN ART & DESIGN (UAL) City College Brighton is the place to study if you are interested in a career in the creative industries. The Foundation Diploma in Art & Design is an intensive, practical and exciting one year course, designed to fully prepare you for an art or design based university programme. You will explore the breadth and diversity of the subject and experiment with a range of working methodologies to make an informed choice about which aspect of art and design you should follow at university.

3D Design Stage 2: Develop skills and understanding of the specialist pathway in greater depth. Build a portfolio in preparation for university. Stage 3: You will undertake a self-initiated final major project which culminates in an exhibition at the end of the course. At this stage the work is externally assessed. Historical and Contextual studies run alongside studio practice during the exploratory stage and an educational visit to Europe is organised to support both the contextual studies programme and the drawing programme.

The deposit and tuition fees will only be refunded under exceptional circumstances as defined by the college. Please note that the accommodation arrangement fee is non-refundable. If you are declined a student visa before the start of your course, you will be required to send us a copy of your visa refusal letter. You will then receive a refund of your deposit minus a£250 admin fee. Please note that refunds will not be granted if there is any evidence that the refusal was due to failure to have adequate funds in place, failure to supply all documents required for a successful application or if fraudulent documents were used.
