A Message from the Chief

Dear American Canyon Community,

As we approach the end of another year, I want to take a moment to reflect on 2024 and express my heartfelt gratitude to the American Canyon community. Your unwavering support, partnership, and commitment to safety continue to make our work at the American Canyon Fire Protection District both meaningful and impactful. Together, we have navigated challenges, celebrated milestones, and strengthened the bonds that make American Canyon a safe and thriving community.

I would like to extend a special thank you to two remarkable leaders who have served our Fire District with dedication and distinction. After over two decades of service, Leon Garcia, the chair of our Fire District Board of Directors, is retiring. Leon, your steadfast leadership, guidance, and support have been instrumental in shaping our District's vision and success. We are profoundly grateful for your contributions and wish you the very best in your next chapter.

We also bid farewell to Board Member Mariam Aboudamous, who has served with distinction. Mariam, your commitment, fortitude, and passion for service have left a lasting impact on our community and the District. Thank you for your dedication and the positive difference you have made during your tenure.

As we embrace the winter holiday season, it’s important to prioritize fire safety in our homes. According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), December sees the highest number of residential structure fires, often caused by warming systems, candles, and cooking. Please take precautions:

- Ensure heaters are in good condition and used safely.

- Keep candles away from flammable materials and never leave them unattended.

- Stay vigilant in the kitchen, and have a fire extinguisher nearby for emergencies.

December is also a month filled with celebrations and gatherings. Alongside our partners at the American Canyon Police Department, we encourage everyone to celebrate responsibly. Whether you're hosting or attending festive events, let’s ensure the holidays remain joyous and safe for all.

From all of us at the American Canyon Fire Protection District, thank you for your continued trust and partnership. We are honored to serve this incredible community and wish you a safe, peaceful, and joyous holiday season.

Station Visit, Visions In Education

On Friday, November 15th, students and parents from the Visions In Education online Home School program paid a visit to Station 11. The group, ranging from Pre-K to 6th graders, explored the day-to-day operations of the firehouse and learned about the essential duties of a firefighter. We were thrilled to engage with these young learners and their families, sharing valuable lessons on fire safety, evacuation planning, and the importance of our work. Partnering with educators to inspire and inform our community’s youth is always a privilege!

What is ACCERT?

ACCERT, American Canyon Community Response Team, is a program that educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may occur where they live.

ACCERT trains volunteers in basic disaster response skills such as: Fire Safety Light Search and Rescue Team Organization Communication

CERT teams exist to “fill the gaps” emergency services may have during a disaster response. We’re happy to be a resource, even when needs change.

If you are interested in seeing what ACCERT is all about, please contact info@americancanyoncert.org
