A Message from the Chief

Dear American Canyon Community,

As we move into February, our thoughts are with the communities in Southern California that have been impacted by recent wildfires. The devastation serves as a reminder of the challenges fire agencies across the state face, and I am proud to share that the American Canyon Fire Protection District (ACFPD) played a role in the statewide response. Through California’s mutual aid system, we deployed a strike team to assist in firefighting efforts, demonstrating our commitment to supporting communities in need.

I want to reassure our residents that while we contribute to statewide emergency response, our fire district remains fully staffed and prepared to respond to any emergency here at home. Your safety is always our top priority.

In addition to our emergency responses, we continue to focus on training and development. Our personnel are constantly refining their skills, and we are proud to report that three of our newest firefighters have successfully completed Module 3 of their 18-month training program. Their dedication to learning ensures we maintain the highest level of service.

Calls for service continue to rise, with a notable 7% increase in emergency medical responses. As demand grows, we remain committed to adapting and improving to meet the needs of our community. In late March, we will release our annual report, which will highlight our 2024 accomplishments, community engagement efforts, community risk reduction initiatives, and overall call volume. Additionally, ACFPD continues to make progress toward our Master Plan goals, which guide our long-term efforts to enhance service delivery and public safety. You can read more about our Master Plan here. Thank you for your continued trust and support. Stay safe, and as always, we are here when you need us.

Hose Drills

In January, the fire explorers participated in a hands-on drill focused on pulling and reloading fire hoses. They practiced quickly deploying hose lines from the engine, emphasizing speed, accuracy, and teamwork.

Afterward, they worked on properly reloading the hoses, ensuring neat, efficient packing for the next use. The exercise reinforced fundamental firefighting skills and built confidence in handling equipment under pressure.

ACFPD is proud to support the growth and development of our Fire Explorers as they build skills and confidence for their future.
