The Bartlett Public Library is part of the Memphis Public Libraries. Fully funded by the City of Bartlett, the Bartlett Public Library offers access to approximately 110,000 items within its own collection and thousands of items in other Memphis library locations. In most instances, items from other locations can be delivered to the Bartlett Library within two weekdays.

Library Cards

Library cards are free to residents and property owners in Bartlett, Memphis and unincorporated Shelby County. City of Bartlett employees and teachers in Bartlett City Schools and Shelby County schools are also entitled to a free Memphis Public Library card. Non-residents may pay a $50 yearly fee to use Bartlett and Memphis libraries. To obtain a card, bring valid identification and proof of current address or property owned to the library's Check-Out Desk. Customers 17 and younger need to be accompanied by a parent of guardian to obtain a library card.

Fees

Books have no check-out fees. Audio CDs are $.50 per CD; DVDs and videos are $2. Children’s audio books have no check-out fees. Photocopies are $.20 per page. Printing from public computers costs $.20 per black-and-white page and $1 per color page.

Fines

There are no fines for overdue books, audio books, music CDs, and magazines. The cost of replacing lost or damaged items varies. Customers who owe $15 or more, or have an item overdue longer than 10 days, cannot check out additional items.

Online Services

Customers can view library account information, renew books, place holds on items, and access the library catalog and informational databases 24 hours a day at MemphisLibrary.org.

Public Computers

The Bartlett Library has 20 computers for public use which access the Internet and Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel. There is a one-hour time limit on these computers. Use of the computers is free, but charges apply for printing. A valid library card is required to use the computers.

Wi-Fi Access

Wireless internet access is available for use with laptop computers and other personal devices equipped with wireless capabilities.

Friends of the Bartlett Library

The Friends of the Bartlett Library promote and enhance Library facilities and services through advocacy, volunteer service, and fundraising and encourage literacy, learning and reading.

Individuals can become a member of the Friends of the Bartlett Library for $10 per year, or for 3 years at $25. Benefits include early shopping at the annual used book sale. Membership forms are available at the library and online at FriendsBartlettLibrary.org.

The Friends of the Bartlett Library accepts donations of gently used books for all ages, CDs, and DVDs during regular Library business hours. For large donations, contact the library at 901-386-8968 to arrange delivery. Detailed information is available on the Friends website, FriendsBartlettLibrary.org. All donations are greatly appreciated.

Friends Used Book Sales

The Friends of the Bartlett Library maintain an ongoing used book sale inside the Bartlett Library during regular business hours.

Outreach Programs

Bartlett City Schools The Bartlett library partners with Bartlett City Schools to provide storytimes, resource presentations, book talks and more. We participate with annual programs such as B Ready Day, Read for the Record and Read Across America. The Library also partners with other community organizations to provide innovative programming and services. You can stop by and visit us once a month at the Bartlett Farmer's Market. Bartlett Performance Arts Center We provide a mini pop-up library and resource table at the annual Bartlett on the Lake event. Please check our online calendar for dates and times.

Robinwood Retirement Resort We host a Mobile Book Chat for residents every month. Book Chat is a lively discussion of books each participant has recently read. Books are provided for this program.

Children's Services

Toddler Lapsit Storytime (for ages 1-3) Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. Preschool Storytime (for ages 2-5) Thursdays, 11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. Registration is REQUIRED. Special programs and events held throughout the year are advertised in the library as well as on the library's website.

Story Walk in the Park will be featured in various Bartlett Parks throughout the year. Please check our online calendar for location details on Story Walk in the Park. On May 5, 2022, the Bartlett library opened a new Teen Innovation Center. The innovation center offers engaging and interactive technology-related activities and resources for teens including a smart board, 3D printer, Cricut machines, video game consoles, laptops and a makerspace supply kit for creatives. The Teen Department is proud to be able to offer this state-ofthe-art technology and resources to teen patrons in a space that is all their own. The Teen Innovation Center is open and available to teens every day that the library is open. Adult Services

Book Chat Every Third Tuesday, bi-monthly, 1:00 p.m. Book Chat is a fun and informal book club. Participants discuss one or more books of choice. Our meetings usually fall on the third Tuesday of the month at 1:00 p.m. every other month. Currently we meet in January, March, May, July, September, and November. YarnB Every First Thursday, monthly, 11:00 a.m. The Adult Department hosts a knitting circle for beginning or experienced knitters. This group meets on the first Thursday of the month at 11:00 a.m. at the Bartlett Library. Bring your knitting project and join us! Registration is not required. The group will meet in the Program or Meeting Room.

Volunteer Opportunities

Ages 14 and up are welcome to volunteer for a variety of tasks at the library. Interested persons should call the library's Information Desk for more details.
