DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS at the Old Log Theater Based on the popular film, DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS is set in the colorful world of the French Riviera where casino culture is rife. Master con-artist Lawrence Jameson makes a living tricking old, rich ladies into giving him their money. When an American rival, Freddy, arrives on the French coast, he challenges the status quo and Lawrence’s position as chief conartist is threatened. They decide the town just isn’t big enough for the two of them and challenge each other to a bet; the first one to swindle $50,000 wins. As they both take on the bet, they fall for the same woman, but quickly realize that they may have bitten off more than they can chew…DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS has been described as stylish, irreverent, and “a little bit of Broadway musical comedy heaven.” Price includes motor coach transportation, ticket, and lunch. Make your meal selection at time of registration: short ribs, pan seared tilapia, rolled penne pasta, or roasted chicken breast. Meal includes bread, beverage, and dessert.

ST. PAUL’S FINEST
We are spending the day touring some of St. Paul’s finest landmarks. We’ll start the day with tour of the renowned James J. Hill House of Summit Avenue. Our docent will walk us through the residence as facts and tales of the public and private lives of the Hill family are revealed. Next we will head over to the Landmark Center. This former US Courthouse and post office has a storied history that includes the FBI and 1930s era gangsters. Our visit will begin in the central atrium where we will enjoy a stuffed pork chop lunch. After lunch our tour guide will share the history and architecture of the building along with the stories of infamous gangsters who resided in St. Paul and perhaps ended up in the Federal Court House. Our last stop of the day is the Spring Flower Shower at the Como Park Conservatory. Bursting with shades of purple the showcase will include: Tulips, Hyacinth, Allium, Crocus and more! Afterwards there will be time to enjoy the tropical encounters area, palm dome, fern room, north garden and Japanese garden. Please note that walking and standing for extended periods of time are part of all stops. Cost includes lunch and all admissions. Register by April 6.
DATE: Tuesday, April 21 TIME: 9:15 am - 4:30 pm FEE: $63 RIVER ROAD BOOGIE: THE AUGIE GARCIA STORY at the History Theater
After returning home to St. Paul from the Korean War, Augie Garcia created a unique style of music that blended the sounds of his Mexican heritage with rhythm and blues. The Augie Garcia Quintet really found their groove at the River Road Club in Mendota and, in 1956, they opened for Elvis Presley at the St. Paul Auditorium. This new musical explores the life and music of a man whose infectious smile, generous spirit, and incredible talent—along with his trademark Bermuda shorts—made him a Minnesota music legend. Lunch included after the show at the St. Paul Grill. Register by March 31.
DATE: Thursday, May 7 TIME: 8:45 am - 2:45 pm FEE: $55
A religious comedy but it is refreshingly different from most plays about religion. Sister Mary Ignatius has been asked to teach the adult catechism class because Father Murphy doesn’t want to miss his poker night. You, as the audience member, are part of Sister’s class. She’ll take you back to the days of the Latin Mass, meatless Fridays and remind you about that good ruler across the knuckles. Part catechism/part stand-up comedy. This one woman show is top-notch comedy. It is hilarious, well-written and inspired. Late Night Catechism played on Broadway for several years and was well received by the catholic clergy and the parishioners. The playwrights have a deep and nostalgic respect for their subject. Lunch included prior to the show. Register by April 27.

THAT MIGHTY MISSISSIPPI
COMMUNITY OUTINGS
LATE NIGHT CATECHISM at the Plymouth Playhouse
Historic Fort Snelling is a National Landmark overlooking the Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers. It was built to protect the fur trade, was once the furthest outpost of the U.S. military, and has been of significance for centuries to many American Indian communities. Our visit begins with the presentation of a short film: “Where the Waters Meet: Stories of Fort Snelling”. Afterwards, walk the short gravel path to the restored historic fort, where costumed staff share the forts’ history with conversation, demonstrations and interactive activities. Explore at your own pace, while engaging in the lives of the people who lived in and around the fort during this time. We will enjoy a delicious Western BBQ completed with pulled pork, baked beans, corn on the cob, cole slaw, potato salad and corn bread muffins at Josephs Grill. Our afternoon continues with experiencing the timeless splendor of the mighty Mississippi River on board an authentic paddle wheeler. The one and one half hour, narrated sightseeing excursion offers sights of the St. Paul High Bridge, Pig’s Eye’s Cave, Minnesota River mouth and Pike Island. For your comfort and convenience seating is available both inside and out. Beverages available for purchase on the boat and not included in the cost of the tour. Register by July 1.
THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS at the Old Log Theater
This happy go lucky view of small town vice and statewide political side-stepping recounts the good times and the demise of the Chicken Ranch, known since the 1850s as one of the better pleasure palaces in all of Texas. Governors, senators, mayors, and even victorious college football teams frequent Miss Mona’s cozy bordello until that puritan nemesis Watchdog focuses his television cameras and his righteous indignation on the institution. Made popular by the Dolly Parton and Burt Reynolds movie, the play is a nostalgic look at a delicate subject, but there’s nothin’ dirty going on! Price includes motor coach transportation, ticket, and lunch. Make your meal selection at time of registration: short ribs, pan seared tilapia, rolled penne pasta, or roasted chicken breast. Meal includes bread, beverage, and dessert.

Costs associated with repairing vandalized property takes money away from recreational programs and facilities. Help stop vandalism. Always call 9-1-1 to report a crime in progress, including vandalism. To report a crime that occurred in a park but does not require immediate police response, call 763-4271212. Calls are accepted 24 hours a day and you can remain anonymous.
All participants are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times while participating, watching, or attending any program or activity conducted or sponsored by the City of Blaine Parks and Recreation Department. The following guidelines are designed to provide safe and enjoyable activities for all participants:
• Show respect to all participants and program staff. • Take direction from program staff/supervisors. • Refrain from using abusive or foul language. • Refrain from causing bodily harm to self, other participants or program staff/supervisors. • Refrain from damaging equipment, supplies, or facilities.
Failure to follow these rules may result in a suspension of participation. The City of Blaine Parks and Recreation Department strives to make your participation fun-filled, rewarding, educational, and safe. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
