Music Together is an award-winning, internationally acclaimed early childhood music and movement program for children from birth to kindergarten and the grownups who love them. In class, you’ll dance, sing, play rhythm instruments and share 45 minutes of pure fun with your child each week for 8 weeks while supporting your child or children’s cognitive, verbal, physical, emotional, social AND music development. Families receive CDs and songbooks of session’s song collection so the fun and learning continues at home. The cost for these materials is included in the tuition. All classes are mixed-age, so siblings can participate together. Infants under eight months on the first day of the session are free with a paying sibling. The cut off birth date for infant siblings to be free of charge is Oct. 19, 2016. Infants are welcomed in class and when registered as the only child in a family, pay the full tuition. Visit a FREE demo class before the summer session to learn more about the program. For more information or specific questions about the classes, call or email Director Clarice Wilson, Ph.D. at 651-439-4219, or Clarice@MusicTogetherClasses.com, or visit MusicTogetherClasses.org.

Salsa is an extremely popular, fast, sexy and fun dance. Most every night of the week a club to Salsa dance can be found. It has origins in Cuba and Puerto Rico, but has many influences from around the world including New York's 1970's disco scene. Merengue, an easy dance with very brisk, quick steps and hip action, is the National dance of the Dominican Republic. There are several theories as to the origins of the dance, one of which is that the Dominican people honoring a wounded war hero danced with a limp. Bachata also has its origins in the Dominican Republic. It is danced widely all over the world but with many varying styles. The music is romantic with prominent acoustic guitar. In this class students will focus on Salsa but will learn the basics and add fun patterns to all three dances. Max 20. No class July 4

The doors were locked, the store and its merchandise remained untouched for decades. The Harkin Store was forced to close in the 1870’s due to the railroad passing by the small town of Newton. Take your time as you ascend the 40 + steps to enter the untouched general store. We will make a stop at the oldest bar in Minnesota, Turner Hall, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the heart of New Ulm since 1856. LET’S MAKE TRACKS
Spooner Wisconsin was once the hub for the Omaha Railroad where two main lines joined together. At one time, nearly 75% of the residents worked for the railroad and 22 passenger trains stopped in Spooner each day. Today, you have the opportunity to experience vintage train travel, during a 2 ½ hour round trip journey through the scenic Wisconsin countryside. Sit back and relax in the beauty of the passing landscape filled with blazing colors. Our journey on the Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad, meanders leisurely from Trego towards Earl. As the train rumbles along the tracks, mahogany interior adds a touch of nostalgia to a delicious lunch served at your table. A salad dressed with chef’s choice of dressing, Chicken Cordon Blue, long grain and wild rice, vegetables, dinner roll, dessert and coffee or lemonade make for a delightful accompaniment to the surroundings. A cash bar will be available onboard. After our train adventure we will make a stop in Shell Lake at the Museum of Woodcarvings. It’s the largest collection of woodcarvings in the world created by one man, wood sculptor Joseph T. Berta. He has spent 15 years crafting 100 life sized, and 400 miniature carvings. Scenes from the bible are revealed chronologically beginning with the banishment of Adam and Eve through the crucifixion. What would a trip to Wisconsin be without a stop at a cheese shop? We will make a stop in Comstock at a cheese store where a variety of cheeses are available for purchase. **Note: some walking and standing will be required. Max 19. Register by Sept. 5

Refunds are given if Blaine Parks and Recreation cancels the program or if registration fails because the activity is full. Participants canceling at least 7 days prior to an activity will be charged a cancellation fee as follows: $5 for programs costing $10-$99; $10 for programs costing $100 or more. Refunds will not be given for programs costing less than $10 or for cancellations made less than 7 days prior to the program start date. Trip refunds are subject to specific policies on a per-trip basis, based on advanced ticket purchases. Participants must contact the Parks and Recreation Department to request a refund.
The Blaine Police Department and Park Patrol need your help to prevent vandalism and apprehend those who vandalize parks and recreation facilities. Vandals destroy what tax dollars have created. Costs associated with repairing vandalized property takes money away from recreational programs and facilities. Help stop vandalism. Always call 9-1-1 to report a crime in progress, including vandalism. To report a crime that occurred in a park but does not require immediate police response, call 763-427-1212. Calls are accepted 24 hours a day and you can remain anonymous.
