youth programs
Music Together is an award winning early childhood music and movement program for children from birth to kindergarten and the grown-ups who love them. Share the delight of making music in these joy-filled, research-based classes! Infants, toddlers and preschoolers participate at their own developmental level, sharing songs, instrument play, rhythmic rhymes and movement activities in a relaxed, playful, non-performance-oriented setting. Classes are mixed-age so siblings can participate together. Music Together classes are based on the recognition that all children are musical. They can learn to sing in tune, keep a beat and participate with confidence, provided that their early environment supports such learning. The Music Together curriculum supports children’s overall development—their cognitive, social, physical, verbal AND music development. Receive an illustrated songbook filled with music-making ideas, a CD with the song collection we’ll be using this winter as well as a code to digitally download and/or stream the music, a corresponding songbook, and a DVD and booklet introducing early childhood music development. Infants under eight months on the first day of the session are free with a paying sibling. The cut off birth date for infant siblings to be free of charge is May 6, 2017 for winter session and March 24, 2017 for Spring Session. Visit a FREE demonstration class before the winter session starts to find out if Music Together is a good fit for your family. For more information or specific questions about the classes, call or e-mail director Clarice Auluck-Wilson, Ph.D. at 651-439-4219, or at Clarice@MusicTogetherClasses.com, or visit www.MusicTogetherClasses.org. At Fix-It Clinics, residents bring in small household appliances, clothing, electronics, mobile devices, toys, bikes, and more and receive free guided assistance from volunteers with repair skills to disassemble, troubleshoot and fix their items. Fix-It Clinics teach valuable troubleshooting and basic repair skills, build community connections and reduce the number of repairable objects that are thrown in the trash.
Be a Fix-It Clinic Volunteer! If you can troubleshoot repairs for broken items, consider volunteering at a Fix-It Clinic. Volunteer fixers who have skills in computers, cell phones, soldering, electronics repair, small appliance and electrical repair, toy repair, bike repair, sewing, wood working and general tinkering are essential to making the clinics successful. Volunteers should bring their own tools, sewing machines, glues, and any supplies you think will be helpful.
