Disc Golf at Lochness Park 11121 LEXINGTON AVE NE Number of Holes: 9; Course Hours: sunrise to sunset Disc golf is a fun activity for participants of nearly all ages and abilities. Simply throw a disc toward a designated basket and like golf, count one point for each throw. Lowest score wins. Lochness Park’s disc golf course has three different tee boxes suitable for beginner, intermediate and advanced players. Disc rental is available through the parks and recreation office. Coffee with a Cop is an opportunity to break down the barriers that, on occasion, exist between police officers and the citizens they serve. Taking time to meet in a neutral location provides for real conversations about issues that matter, answer questions, and to share information. Night to Unite brings neighbors together in the name of crime prevention and community. Registration will be available on the city website beginning in April, or registration packets can also be picked up at the Blaine Police Department at City Hall. Registration is free. During the months of April and May we will be distributing AND PROPERLY FITTING helmets for our community. blaine wetland sanctuary Come and explore the Blaine Wetland Sanctuary. This 500 acre dedicated open space is now accessible for the public to escape the urban landscape and reconnect with nature. An extensive boardwalk meanders through the wetland, allowing you to experience a serene and natural environment. The boardwalk extends from the trailhead on Lexington Avenue through both wetland and upland habitats connecting to East Lake Park. Future plans for the BWS include additional trails (exact locations are yet to be determined) and a nature center at the Lexington Avenue trailhead. Management of the wetland site will continue into the future to accomplish the plan approved by the regulatory agencies. During spring and summer, crews will be out applying pollinator friendly herbicides to control the invasive species which inhibit the growth of the native vegetation. Prescribed burns and over-seeding with native herbaceous species will allow the area to thrive and provide important habitat for birds, pollinators, and wildlife. The health of a wetland takes maintenance and care. The City of Blaine is committed to preserve this area for the enjoyment of the community now and into the future.
May is American Wetlands Month Things You Can Do 1. Register for a class or two held at the Blaine Wetland Sanctuary. 2. Visit the Blaine Wetland Sanctuary and look for birds, wildlife, and pollinators. 3. Visit the wetland display at Blaine City Hall. 4. Visit the Natural Resource Conservation Board booth at Blaine World Fest and find out more about wetlands. 5. Educate a friend or family member about wetlands why they matter to us. 6. Find out if there’s an opportunity to volunteer to help restore a wetland. 7. See if your children’s schools can take a field trip to a local wetland or if someone can come to the school and talk about wetlands. 8. Check out an Open Space Passport from our website or office! 9. Don’t drain, fill or excavate any low areas on your property without finding out if the area is wetland.

Each class will have an assistant, making the leader to child ratio even better. Families receive CDs and songbooks of session’s song collection so the fun and learning continues at home. The cost for these materials is included in the tuition. All classes are mixed-age, so siblings can participate together. Infants under eight months on the first day of the session are free with a paying sibling. This camp offers a wide variety of sports and activities that your child can explore in a fun and interactive setting. The Best of Red Wing
Relax on the motor coach as we venture down to Red Wing for the day. We start our day with a guided tour of the Pottery Museum of Red Wing. The historic pottery industry flourished in Red Wing from 1877 until 1967. The museum boasts over 6,000 pieces of vintage Red Wing Pottery spread over 13,000 square feet. Goin’ Out Country Skyrock Farm

senior center The Mary Ann Young Senior Center is located by Aquatore Park just off Highway 65 and Cloverleaf Parkway. As a focal point for seniors, the center’s staff and volunteers offer a dynamic variety of programs and social events throughout the year. The Center is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. The Senior Dining Program offers noon meals at a suggested donation of $4 for people age 60 and over, and a cost of $7 for those under age 60. Please call three days in advance to register for the noon meal. Van service is available for residents of Blaine to transport participants to and from the senior center for a cost of just $1.50 round trip. Stop by and visit the Center during scheduled hours, or call 763-786-9375 for further information. Refunds
Age Groups
Activities are designed to meet developmental guidelines of the specified age group. The Parks and Recreation Department does not allow children to register for activities above or below their grade/age.
Accessibility
All programs listed in this brochure are open to people with disabilities. If you need assistance or inclusion services, please call 763-785-6164. Inclusion services must be set up at least three weeks prior to program start.
Weather Policy
When inclement weather arises, parents or participants may go to blaineparks.com for the latest updates about programs and events being canceled, delayed, or rescheduled. Also during normal office hours (M-F 8-4:30 pm) parents or participants may call the Parks and Recreation office at 763785-6164 or our 24-hour hotline at 763-717-2709.
Photo Policy
Photographs of program or park participants are periodically taken. These photos may appear in the local newspapers and/or Parks and Recreation Department digital and print publications. If you do not want your photo used, please tell the photographer.
Park Repairs
Please notify park maintenance at 763-785-6165 about damage, vandalism or equipment cleanliness issues.
Park Shelter Permits
Large shelters are available to rent for family or group gatherings. See page 3 for more information. All other shelters are first-come, first-served.
HELP END PARK VANDALISM
Refunds are given if Blaine Parks and Recreation cancels the program or if registration fails because the activity is full. Participants canceling at least 7 days prior to an activity will be charged a cancellation fee as follows: $5 for programs costing $10-$99; $10 for programs costing $100 or more. Refunds will not be given for programs costing less than $10 or for cancellations made less than 7 days prior to the program start date. Trip refunds are subject to specific policies on a per-trip basis, based on advanced ticket purchases. Participants must contact the Parks and Recreation Department to request a refund.

Providers are welcomed to enroll children in activities. Parents must sign individual registration forms.
The Blaine Police Department and Park Patrol need your help to prevent vandalism and apprehend those who vandalize parks and recreation facilities. Vandals destroy what tax dollars have created. Costs associated with repairing vandalized property takes money away from recreational programs and facilities. Help stop vandalism. Always call 9-1-1 to report a crime in progress, including vandalism. To report a crime that occurred in a park but does not require immediate police response, call 763-427-1212. Calls are accepted 24 hours a day and you can remain anonymous.

general information Participant Code of Conduct
All participants are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times while participating, watching, or attending any program or activity conducted or sponsored by the City of Blaine Parks and Recreation Department. The following guidelines are designed to provide safe and enjoyable activities for all participants: • Show respect to all participants and program staff. • Take direction from program staff/supervisors. • Refrain from using abusive or foul language. • Refrain from causing bodily harm to self, other participants or program staff/supervisors. • Refrain from damaging equipment, supplies, or facilities. Failure to follow these rules may result in a suspension of participation. The City of Blaine Parks and Recreation Department strives to make your participation fun-filled, rewarding, educational, and safe. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Park Board Meetings
Regular meetings of the Blaine Park Board are conducted on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 pm at Blaine City Hall. All residents encouraged to attend. Persons wishing to present a discussion topic should contact Parks and Recreation staff in advance.
Blaine Arts Council
The Blaine Arts Council is a volunteer organization open to all interested individuals. Its mission is to promote, advance, and celebrate the arts in the community for the appreciation and participation of residents. The council sponsors ongoing art exhibitions at Blaine City Hall and organizes special arts events throughout the year. Council meetings are the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 PM at Blaine City Hall. Interested individuals are invited to attend a meeting and participate in events. Adopt-a-Park
Want to improve parks and trails? Consider adopting a park as a family, neighborhood group or community service organization. As a partner with the City of Blaine, your group can help accomplish needed park and trail improvements. Fun and challenging activities may include monthly cleanup, planting flowers, creating new landscape features, or maintaining landscapes.
