Swanson Dog Park Sculpture Carved by Eddie Turner Eddie Turner began woodcarving with knives in 2018. After a storm on his Wisconsin property resulted in many available sections of wood, Eddie completed nine chainsaw carvings. Armed with these new skills, Eddie then saw the stump at the Swanson Dog Park and decided it would be a great place for a chainsaw carving of a dog. After entering discussions with city staff and weighing liability issues, Eddie decided completing a chainsaw carving on his own property was the best course of action. He chose a golden retriever for the carving. As he was working on the project, Eddie discovered the cavity of the stump was rotten, so he set to work filling the cavity with auto body filler. The six-foot stump needed its bark removed, and to be sanded, tapered, and sealed. A wedge base was then built to level the sculpture, and the stump painted to match the wood finish of the dog. Lastly, the carving was secured to the stump. What a great result! On behalf of all the people who get to enjoy the new golden retriever sculpture on display at the Swanson Dog Park, we thank you and appreciate the beautiful addition!
