Salsa is an extremely popular, fast, sexy and fun dance. Most every night of the week a club to Salsa dance can be found. It has origins in Cuba and Puerto Rico, but has many influences from around the world including New York's 1970's disco scene. Merengue, an easy dance with very brisk, quick steps and hip action, is the National dance of the Dominican Republic. There are several theories as to the origins of the dance, one of which is that the Dominican people honoring a wounded war hero danced with a limp. Bachata also has its origins in the Dominican Republic. It is danced widely all over the world but with many varying styles. The music is romantic with prominent acoustic guitar. Salsa II will continue adding patterns and technique to your Salsa, Merengue and Bachata and will also introduce Cha Cha. Min 6/Max 20.

THE NUTCRACKER’S NUTS

Day Trippers Theater: A Christmas play with lunch Join us for Day Trippers Theater’s most popular Christmas play, THE NUTCRACKER’S NUTS. This play includes comedy, dancing, and the music of the Nutcracker Ballet. THE NUTCRACKER'S NUTS is a real crowd pleaser especially in the second act when the "ballet" occurs. It’s ridiculous, charming, adorable, and hilarious. The residents of Simon's Rest, a retirement community in Frankfort, Mich., have been complaining about the quality of the holiday program. They're tired of the same boring production of "The Christmas Carol." The guy who plays Scrooge can't remember his lines and Tiny Tim is six feet tall. After the loss of their director, the program committee decides to look for another script. Not realizing it's a ballet, they plan a production of "The Nutcracker." When the residents find out it has a ballet, they want to back out but it's too late - the show is sold out and they come to realize the show must go on! Think of it as your only chance to see the Nutcracker performed with walkers! A lunch buffet is included with Pork Loin with Cherry Glaze or Chicken Cordon Bleu, Wild Rice Pilaf, Tossed Green Salad, Pistachio Salad, Rolls and Butter, Christmas Cupcake and Coffee or Tea. A full bar is available for purchase on your own. Register by November 17. Max 20.
