Rising temperatures frequently result in residential customers using more water for lawn and landscape needs. During these peak demand periods between May and September, water usage rates are tier-based on volume used to reduce strain on the water supply and encourage conservation.
The minimum monthly charge, which includes the first 2,000 gallons of usage, is $16.40. Any additional usage will be billed based on the following.
• 2,001-10,000 gallons
$3.92 per 1,000 gallons
• 10,001-25,000 gallons
$5.27 per 1,000 gallons
• 25,000 gallons and over
$6.57 per 1,000 gallons
Did you know? Even during the hottest summer months, watering twice a week using the Cycle Soak Method is enough to keep lawns and gardens green. Visit the link below for more tips on how to save money this summer by using less water indoors and outdoors.

The 10th annual Volunteer Awards received several nominations across four categories: Neighborhood Leadership, Outstanding Community Organization, Volunteer of the Year, and Youth Volunteer of the Year facilitated by the City’s Community Development Division. These awards are designed to recognize individuals, organizations, and leaders who have gone above and beyond to deliver exceptional community service to the City of Carrollton and its residents.
Remodeling the
Right Way
Everyone appreciates the beauty of a remodeled home and neighbors who complete their projects with minimal disruption to the neighborhood.
Know when to get a City permit. Permits are required for new building construction including a pool, fence, or patio cover; a building remodel; renovation; or repair work. New work is considered any new construction, commercial or residential, from vacant ground to a completed new structure. Manage trash for efficient collection. Contractors are responsible for the removal and disposal of all construction debris and are not allowed to place it out for collection. Homeowners performing the construction work themselves may place materials at the curb for collection no sooner than 6 p.m. the day before their scheduled trash pickup.

Community Cleanup Challenge
Removing trash and debris from the environment is a great way to help Carrollton’s streets, waterways, and green spaces thrive.
The City participates in the North Texas Community Cleanup Challenge every year from March 1 to May 31, a friendly competition among local cities and towns to determine which can pick up the most litter per resident.
Want to get involved?
Get in some sunshine and fresh air while helping keep the City’s waterways free of trash. Picking up even one item of trash makes a big difference ... every piece counts!
1. Set a date and notify Carrollton Environmental Services of the date and number of volunteers participating.
2. Visit trashfreetexas.org to pick a location in Carrollton.
3. Pick up supplies at City Hall (1945 E. Jackson Road), Environmental Services.
4. Have volunteers fill out the waiver online and discuss safety practices.
CFR Upgrades Fleet
Carrollton Fire Rescue (CFR) has replaced nine outdated vehicles with state-of-the-art equipment, including a new Heavy-Duty Tiller Aerial Ladder truck. The Tiller features two drivers at the front and rear for greater maneuverability and faster response time in spaces such as traffic circles, alleys, and narrow streets. It carries firefighting, water rescue, storm response, and other equipment, enhancing CFR’s ability to adapt and respond to any emergency situation.
5. Conduct the cleanup in the designated area and make a positive impact on Carrollton’s waterways.
6. Return materials and scan the QR code above to complete the post-cleanup survey.
Join the challenge to clear litter and help keep Carrollton’s waterways clean. For more information, visit the website below or call Environmental Services.

Law Enforcement Positions Available
The Carrollton Police Department offers a variety of career opportunities. In addition to Police, there are Detention, Community Service, and Public Service officer positions available, as well as Property & Evidence and Business Services personnel. These roles provide a unique chance to gain hands-on experience and build a foundation in law enforcement, especially if applicants are looking to start a career without any prior higher education. If becoming a police officer is the goal, these positions serve as an excellent pathway to that dream.
In 2024, CFR responded to almost 16,000 fire and emergency medical calls, a number which continues to increase yearly. The replacement of these vehicles ensures the department has the best tools to serve Carrollton’s growing community. joincarrolltonPD.com

Minimize Property Risk with Insurance
Even residents who don’t live in flood-prone areas should secure flood insurance.
Between 20-25 percent of National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) claims come from outside high-flood risk areas, and the NFIP’s Preferred Risk Policy is designed for residential properties located in low to moderate flood risk zones.
Carrollton’s local flood hazards generally come from the Elm Fork of the Trinity River, which flows down the western City limits,
and branches into four streams: Dudley Branch, Furneaux Creek, Hutton Branch, and Indian Creek.
Damage caused by floods and high wind is often not covered by homeowners insurance. Residents should contact their insurance company to determine flood insurance eligibility. It takes at least 30 days to activate flood insurance.
Visit msc.fema.gov to find out if your home or business is located within a flood risk zone. For flood depth data, flood maps, or information regarding property protection assistance and site visits, contact the Carrollton Engineering Department.
