Conserving water during the hottest months is both cost-effective and good for the planet. Start saving today with these easy tips.

• Invest in high-efficiency appliances and only run full loads.

• Turn off the faucet while brushing teeth or shaving.

CPD Launches Carrollton Safe

This voluntary program provides a database of camera locations that may assist police in a criminal investigation.

The Carrollton Police Department (CPD) has partnered with Flock Safety, inviting residents, businesses, and organizations to register their security cameras to enhance community safety and aid in criminal investigations.

This voluntary camera registry program will help officers quickly identify where cameras are located when gathering video evidence, eliminating the need for traditional door-todoor canvassing and saving valuable time. Most importantly, the registry does not allow anyone to automatically access live video streams or footage of privately owned cameras. Signing up simply lets investigators know a camera exists at a specific location

and allows officers to contact participants if an incident occurs nearby. The program ensures privacy while encouraging community cooperation.

A secondary option allows residents and businesses to voluntarily integrate their live video streams directly into CPD’s system. Investigators can then access real-time video in the event of an emergency or active situation, improving response times and officer and citizen safety.

Visit the website below to learn about the different options available to either register or integrate existing cameras.

Common Code Violations

Maintaining a home’s general aesthetic not only makes it visually attractive but also contributes to the community’s safety, health, and welfare. Follow the tips below to avoid common property maintenance violations while keeping Carrollton beautiful and safe.

• Keep grass and weeds below 10 inches.

• Avoid creating a hiding place for rodents and other vermin by removing and disposing of all brush piles, trash, or debris.

• Remove inoperable or junk vehicles from the property or park them in the garage screened from public view. A car tarp does NOT qualify.

• Park vehicles on a surface that meets City code, not on the grass.

• Do not allow fences to lean more than 15 degrees. Do not prop up from the outside area where they can be seen by the public.

• Do not repair vehicles unregistered to the property.

• Remove dead trees, bushes, shrubs, or other dead vegetation.

• Replace all broken or missing pickets on a fence. If stained or painted, it must be a uniform color.

• Maintain the exterior of all structures by removing or fixing broken windows, torn screens, rotted wood, mold, missing roof shingles, damaged soffits and fascias, etc.

• Avoid basketball goals from overhanging the streets or alleyways or being placed to obstruct sidewalks.

• Keep spa and swimming pool water clean, treated, and recirculating to prevent a mosquito breeding ground from forming.

• Discharge swimming pool water through the sanitary sewer connection on the property, not into the alley or street.
