FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What specials do you offer to school groups? School groups receive one FREE teachers ticket for every 15 student tickets purchased. Plus all school ticketing is at a lower competitive price. Are there teachers’ resources and workshops available for shows? Teachers’ resource kits and workshops are available at no charge for many of the shows in the 2019 School Shows booklet. We have indicated on each show listing if resource kits and workshops are available. These kits and workshops are put together by the production company’s creative/marketing team and are extremely useful as they help link content of the performance to the school curriculum and often include pre and post show activities.

When eleven-year-old Juniper May receives a petition signed by her entire class stating that she is ‘the most hated person in the school’ her life is thrown into complete meltdown. Juniper stops eating, she refuses to return to school and her parents become increasingly desperate. Finally, after exhausting all other avenues her parents’ resort to the only thing they have left, a giant singing robot. Based on a true story, Robot Song illustrates the profound, transformative nature of creativity that when combined with unconditional love, becomes an unstoppable force. Robot Song is a genuine family show. It is joyful and full of hope. It is for any child who has ever felt isolated or pushed to the margins and any parent desperate for tools to help. The show employs cutting edge digital technology, startling animatronics and a beautiful original musical score. An educational kit will be provided including classroom ready activities to help prepare students for the show. TIME:

POSSUM MAGIC MONKEY BAA THEATRE

Possum Magic takes us on a whimsical journey to cities around Australia to find the food that makes Hush visible again. Joined by an extraordinary creative team, Monkey Baa brings to life the characters, journey and love that has made Possum Magic the most-loved and best-selling Australian picture book of all time. MADAME BUTTERFLY OPERA AUSTRALIA

A man enchanted by the beauty of the East. A woman in love with the promise of the West. Separated by a vast ocean and many years, what will become of their love? Opera Australia’s Madame Butterfly is a love story that reaches across cultures, across oceans and across time. U.S Naval Officer B.F. Pinkerton is ashore in Japan and enchanted with its beauty and freedoms. He decides to take a wife, and when the gorgeous geisha Butterfly arrives, he is transfixed by her charm. She falls hopelessly in love, and a passionate marriage begins. Years later, Pinkerton has returned home. Abandoned by her family, Butterfly waits faithfully for her husband to return. Dawn breaks on a ship in the harbour. What will become of her great hope? Puccini’s popular opera inspired the musical Miss Saigon. It is filled with gorgeous music, from the lovers’ first rapturous embrace to the intense finale. It features the famous aria ‘One Fine Day’ and the Humming Chorus, along with Japanese and American musical themes. Hear Opera Australia’s wonderful singers perform with a chamber orchestra, along with a children’s chorus, drawn from Geraldton. 100 YEARS OF THE HISTORY OF DANCE NICHOLAS CLARK MANAGEMENT

100 Years of the History of Dance as told by one man in 60 minutes with an energetic group finale! Recreating some of the most influential choreographic moments of the last century, this grade-A student gives a school report like you’ve never seen! Following up from his hit solo show “First Things First” which toured Australia in 2015, dance and comic maverick, Joseph Simons, returns with his next solo adventure exploring the last century of developments in dance. Original music for the show is composed by Italian film score composer Enrico Melozzi. “Joseph Simons instinctively understands timing, the real surprise, and the right humour - he is a kind of magician!” - Anna Volksland
