SENIORS WEEK PROGRAM 2018
11- 17 NOVEMBER 2018
2018 Seniors Week Program
Message from the Mayor Welcome to Seniors Week 2018! Seniors Week is an annual event celebrated nationally to acknowledge and thank our seniors for their valued contribution in our community. Celebrations will start on Saturday 3 November with the Friends of the Queens Park Theatre’s the Englishman Who Went up a Hill nibbles and film night. On Sunday 11 November musical duo the Flaming Galahs will take to the theatre stage and play hits from some of Australia’s greatest musicians. The Mayor’s Mystery Bus Tour is back for another cracking year and if you’re interested in coming along, you’d better be quick because it is always a sell-out! The varied list of programs and activities in this year’s Seniors Week encourage you to try something new and to challenge yourself.
As part of the City’s positive ageing focus, the City provides a diverse range of programs and groups available for Over 50s at the Queen Elizabeth II Seniors & Community Centre. These include Gentle Gym, Art Classes, Friendship Groups and computer facilities with free Wi-Fi. I extend a sincere thank you to all of our wonderful sponsors who have kindly supported Seniors Week 2018. Without the generosity of our sponsors and the hard work of the volunteers on the Geraldton Seniors Week Committee we wouldn’t be able to produce such a lineup of events!
Mayor Shane Van Styn
