"I'm looking forward to bringing a creative and collaborative approach to the High Point Theatre. I want to use my composer skills and data-driven budget management experience to make a difference in this community," he said. COHPEMPLOYEEWINSNATIONAL ROADEOCHALLENGE

Curtis Crisco, the City of High Point's water-sewer mains champion, recently showcased his machine-operating skills at the National Public Works Backhoe Roadeo Challenge during PWX (National American Public Works Association) in Atlanta, Georgia!

After winning first place at the state competition, Curtis proudly represented the City of High Point on the national stage! We are thrilled to announce that his precision and expertise with the backhoe and mini excavator earned him a spot among the top 10 out of 70 competitors from across the US. Congratulations, Curtis, on your hard-earned skills and this outstanding achievement!

The APWA Roadeo provides an ideal forum to showcase members' operating skills and offer participants learning and networking opportunities. Public works departments throughout the United States and Canada use a wide range of equipment, and the competition should use appropriate equipment to test operators' abilities in a safe and fun environment.

The High Point Public Library hosted September 11th Patriot's Displays in public and staff areas to remember those who served and lost their lives that day. The displays featured a poster and an electric candle that remained lit all day. Army Recruiters temporarily working at the library paused to remember those lost. For more information about these displays, please get in touch with Gail Simpson at gail simpson@@highpointnc gov

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month, and this year's theme was "More than Meets the Eye!" This month highlights how library cards empower individuals and communities by providing free access to technology, multimedia resources, educational programs and more.

High Point Public Library has been busy hosting exciting activities to promote library card sign-ups. Recently, they partnered with FedEx to create 20 new library cards and share information with over 70 community members.

So far, 50 new cards have been issued and information distributed to various organizations in the local area. They’re also planning more sign-up events, incl di ll

MIRACLELEAGUEKICKSOFFFALLSEASON

Mayor Cyril Jefferson was invited to throw out the first pitch of the fall season for the Miracle League of High Point. Aubrey with the Pirates was the first player up - and it happened to be her birthday!

It turns out this wasn't Mayor Jefferson's first experience volunteering on our "Field of Dreams." He served as a Miracle League "Buddy" as a high school student during the league's first year of operation in High Point in 2009! It was great to have him back with us; thank you, Mayor Jefferson! He was joined by volunteer groups from Wesleyan Christian Academy and D.H. Griffin Companies, whose service as Buddies to our players we also appreciate.

If you are interested in volunteering with the Miracle League, we would love to talk to you! Please contact Stephanie Hedgecock at 336.883.3477 or stephanie.hedgecock@highpointnc.gov.

On a beautiful late summer day, High Point Parks & Recreation's High Point Heroes Club enjoyed a pontoon boat ride around the Arnold J. Koonce, Jr. City Lake at High Point City Lake Park.

This group is open to local veterans and first responders. It meets once a month to participate in a variety of activities! If you are interested, please contact Timpani Lopp at 336.883.3483 or by email at timpani.lopp@highpointnc.gov. We would love to have you join us.

Some members of High Point Parks & Recreation's Challenger Soccer team, a program offered by our ASPIRE section, recently had the opportunity to attend a Carolina Core soccer game - and they even got to play against each other on the field during the halftime show! Our athletes loved this unique experience and had so much fun; thanks to Carolina Core for hosting them! For more information on ASPIRE (Adaptive Sports, Programs, and

and events, please call 336.883.3469.
