Washington Terrace Swim Lessons (Ages 3 - 12)
Lessons follow the American Red Cross' "Learn To Swim" program for swimming and water safety skills and will be offered from Pre-K to Youth Level 3. All participants must be accompanied by a parent/guardian; Pre-K participants must also be accompanied in the pool by a parent or guardian. My Little Taste Buds (Ages 6 - 12)
Our program is geared toward younger chefs who aspire to learn culinary arts. It introduces proper cooking techniques and safety and aims to increase self-confidence and benefit participants socially, emotionally and developmentally. Learn to Sail (Ages 13+)
Teens and adults learn the basics of sailing through hands-on experience with the help of experienced sailors from the Oak Hollow Sailing Club. The course includes classroom instruction followed by time on the water. Life jackets will be provided. Participants must know how to swim. This course teaches the basics of flat water kayaking on High Point's beautiful Oak Hollow Lake! Learn a variety of beginner skills and important safety procedures. The class is taught by an ACA-certified instructor. Oak Hollow Marina Saturday, Aug. 20, 8 - 10 a.m. $30 per person with kayak rental $20 per person without kayak rental Women's Intro to Kayaking and Safety on the Water (Ages 18+)
This two-hour class, taught by an ACA-certified female instructor, will cover basic water safety and kayaking techniques. Lessons include choosing safety gear, the dangers of cold water, proper paddling and boat handling. Instruction will be conducted both on land and on the water in an encouraging environment. Archery (Ages 8 - 14)
Beginning archers will have the opportunity to learn range safety and proper shooting technique in an environment that also encourages focus, increased selfconfidence and team building. A Second Chance Hiring Event (Ages 18+)
We are partnering with NCWorks to host a hiring event! Employers will be there to assist people without a clean record in gaining employment. Dog Obedience (Ages 18+)
Qualified instructors will teach owners and dogs basic commands and socialization skills. Dogs must be at least eight weeks old. Participants must bring their pet's shot records, a six-foot non-retractable leash, a choke collar and treats.
