OFFICER KLEO JOINS JPD The Jonesboro Police Department placed into service their newest member this month, K-9 “Kleo” handled by Officer Marcus Gerald (above), assigned to B shift, currently working 6 am—6 pm. Kleo is owned by Officer Gerald, and the City is reaping the benefit of having a K-9 on duty. Kleo, a 2 year old Belgian Shepherd, is certified in all narcotics and tracking. The new team will be utilized for traffic enforcement, community events, public relations and assisting other agencies. Welcome, Officer Kleo!

Dear Friends of Jonesboro: Last year, our Mayor & Council approved participation in the Georgia Main Street Program. Main Street communities provide the impetus for business recruitment, building renovations, downtown events, tourism, partnerships, residential living, volunteerism, and historic district designation. With this program, a Board of Directors has been appointed to oversee and facilitate economic growth within our City. I am happy to report that this Board has raised over $90,000 to help stimulate the Downtown District. Being recognized as a Main Street Community enables Jonesboro to have access to technical services, grants, and other tools to further grow and enhance our business community. In order for our programs to be successful, we need your help. Our focus is three core areas: (1)Façade/Sign Improvements (exterior improvements to buildings), (2) Special Events & Festivals, and ( see MAIN STREET, Cont’d on page 3)
Jonesboro Receives LCI Grant (ATLANTA – February 15, 2018) - The At-
lanta Regional Commission (ARC) has awarded $742,400 in Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) study grants to 11 metro Atlanta communities. The grants will help recipients develop plans and policies that create more vibrant, walkable, and connected places. Once the studies are complete, communities will become eligible to receive funding for transportation projects such as sidewalks and intersection improvements, to help implement their visions. “The LCI Program has improved livability and access to jobs and services across metro (Cont’d, GRANT page 2)

Rep. Rhonda Burnough, Chair of the Clayton Delegation, is in her second term. Finding ways to bring businesses to Clayton County is her main priority, as well as legislating ways to assist grandparents raising their grandchildren and victims of domestic violence. Rep. We are still ready for the task.- to raise funds for the purpose of implementing programs that help us achieve the goals of creating a better downtown. For example, your membership and donations helped us to establish façade and sign grant programs to assist Businesses. This year, we have budgeted over $20,000 in façade grants. No donations go to paying salaries as all of the Board/Staff members volunteer their time to this effort. We are also pleased that the memberships allowed our dream of the Broad Street Plaza to become a reality. In addition, the City was one of only nine communities in Georgia to be designated as a Rural Zone. The Rural Zone allows over $150K in tax credit incentives for investors in our Community. Low Temp Industries Begins Work on $13.5 Million Dollar Facility Low Temp Industries (LTI) has begun the process of clearing timber for the construction of their new headquarters facility to be completed in October of 2018. LTI will house roughly 200 employees. LTI is a third generation owned and operated foodservice equipment manufacturer; they celebrated their 70th business anniversary in 2017.
