Get to Know... Billy
James Raymond
Billy James Raymond, or “Billy” as he prefers to be called, has lived in the City since 1994. He has had a varied career as a musician, song writer, recording engineer, and vocalist. Music started as a hobby on his grandmother’s piano for Billy, but by the age of 14 he was playing in nightclubs. He plays bass guitar, rhythm guitar, and keyboard. Billy is a native of Statesboro, GA, but moved to the Atlanta area in 1976, joined a band, and that band went on to open for such performers as B.B. King, Bobby Blue Bland, and Clarence Carter. Billy says that “the first note transforms a musician” during a performance. Billy has also worked as a painter and construction superintendent, but music is his first love. He sings classic Rhythm & Blues and Country Music. Billy has written and recorded several albums over his career, and still performs ‘private gigs’ and is available for parties, anniversaries, and other events. He serves on the Jonesboro Beautification Commission. Contact Billy at billyjamesmuzix1949@yahoo.com or on the website GigSalad.

Good Neighbor Madelynn Dennis
YARD OF THE MONTH
Lori Dennis sent us this story about her granddaughter, Madelynn Dennis: “Late Saturday afternoon my granddaughter Madelynn Dennis and her friend wanted to go to the park across from Dairy Queen (Massengale Park) to play. She asked me if I had a grocery bag in my car. I said yes, so she started picking up all the trash in the park.. Maddy goes to Arnold Elementary, where my daughter Amber Davis is a teacher.” Good work, Madelynn, and thank you for helping to keep Jonesboro beautiful!
