SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

From the Mayor

Dear Lansing neighbors, Welcome to the winter edition of Lansing Living! This is your guide to information, events and activities happening all across the City of Lansing.

I take great pride in the amount and variety of activities we have going on year-round. Winter is no exception! It may get cold outside, but check out some great classes and activities that will keep you warm.

This Lansing Living guide provides information on events and activities that bring us together as a community. The City of Lansing Parks and Recreation Department is proud to offer something for just about everyone.

In here you will find the Lansing Parks and Recreation Activities Guide, the Capital Area Recycling and Trash (CART) Greensheet and other information from the City of Lansing.

I hope you enjoy this guide and can take advantage of the many programs offered by the City of Lansing and our partners. It is truly an honor to serve as your Mayor, and I look forward to working on behalf of you and your neighbors to keep our city moving forward.

Is there an activity or event in the City of Lansing that you’d like to include in future issues of Lansing Living? Please visit: lansingmi.gov/lansingliving

C hristmas Tree and Holiday Waste Disposal Details

After the holidays, there is generally an increase in waste. CART encourages residents to use the following tips to reduce waste and properly dispose of items:

• Please break down cardboard boxes that result from online shopping and place them either inside of or next to your green recycling cart.

• Please do NOT recycle wrapping paper. Instead, throw it away in your blue trash cart or consider a gift wrap alternative such as newspaper, artwork, reusable bag, etc.

• Use real dishes, glasses and cloth napkins at holiday events instead of paper cups, plates and disposable products.

• Consider giving gifts that don’t result in unwanted waste such as gift cards, organizational donations, etc.

Christmas trees will be collected starting the week of January 2, 2023, through the week of January 9, 2023.

• Trees should be placed at the curbside like normal.

• All bags, decorations and other materials MUST be removed from the tree for it to be collected.

• Trees that are taller than six feet tall MUST be cut in half to be collected.
