FROM THE MAYOR Dear Lansing Neighbors, Welcome to the latest edition of Lansing Living: your guide to information, events and activities happening all across the city of Lansing. The Lansing Parks & Recreation Department works hard to provide so many options for you! Want to learn some new dance moves to keep warm this winter? We’ve got you covered. How about learning more about the hot new game pickleball? We’ve got that too, just to name a couple. And, so many games, sports and classes to keep our youth active all through the cold months. In addition, our city is filled with incredible theater, music, arts, festivals and tons of activities for everyone. Check out some of the fun events happening all over Lansing. Included inside is also the Capital Area Recycling and Trash (CART) Greensheet with information on trash and recycling and links on where to find timely and up-to-date information. As always, it is such an honor to serve as your mayor. I will continue working on behalf of you and your neighbors to keep our city moving forward. Lansing truly is an incredible place to call home.

PARKS & REC REFUND POLICIES Refund Policy
In the event of insufficient registration or other circumstances beyond our control, Lansing Parks and Recreation may cancel classes, programs or permits. In such cases, you will receive a full refund. Our goal is to provide quality, enjoyable leisure opportunities to the public and we encourage your participation and feedback. We realize that extenuating circumstances sometimes occur that may affect your ability to attend a program after you have registered; contact us immediately if this occurs. Please allow 3-4 weeks for processing refunds. If payment was made by check, please allow 6 weeks for processing.
Class/Programs
Up to one week prior to class/ program, full refund less $5.00 service charge. Less than one week prior to first class or program, but before second class/program, one half refund less $5.00 service charge. After second class, no refunds.
30 days prior to use, full refund, less $10.00 service charge. Within 30 days to use, no refunds unless reserved and paid for by another group. No refunds because of inclement weather.

CITYWIDE SPECIAL EVENTS Cardboard Classic Sled Contest
$10/Sled Show your creativity and construct a sled out of cardboard, tape, glue and paint. Prizes will be awarded for the “most Lansing sled,” “best design,” “...because we felt Like it,” People’s Choice Award and more! Participants can pay at the door, or pre-register online. $5/Person Hop on over to Gier Ball Park and enjoy our special evening event under the lights! There will be plenty of games, prizes, treats and fun. When the sun goes down, the hunt begins! AQUATICS **Starfish Swimming is a nationally recognized swim instruction curriculum developed by the Starfish Aquatics Institute (SAI). Benchmarks are established at each stage in the program that combine both swimming and safety skills. Students participate in experiential learning activities that allow them to explore the water in a creative and comfortable environment. Learning is self-paced but challenging.
American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification $150/Res; $225/Non-Res Take this opportunity to become American Red Cross lifeguard certified! All participants MUST attend all six days and times. TMYL Friday Night Tennis Programs
This format utilizes modified tennis balls, smaller racquets and court dimensions to provide a successful learning experience and lots of fun for players. Progression is from red, orange, green to yellow (adult) balls. Ball, racquet and court transitions are based on a natural progression in technique, skill, athleticism, and age. For players ages 11-18, coaches will assess players’ skills and place in the appropriate group to ensure progress. TRASH DISPOSAL INFORMATION We are the leader in convenient, affordable curbside pickup. Our range of trash cart sizes are sure to meet the needs of any size household. Place carts on the curb by 7am on collection day. Containers must be off the curb within 24 hours. Separate recyclable materials and yard waste from trash.

3rd Annual Friends of Turner-Dodge Holiday Open House
$5/Person | Free/Children 12 & Under The Friends of Turner-Dodge House & Lansing Parks and Recreation host area businesses, organizations and individuals to adorn all three floors of Turner-Dodge House with holiday decor. The event opens Saturday, December 16th, and goes through Sunday, December 31st. Hours are Tuesdays-Thursdays, 1-7pm, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays, 12-5pm (closed Mondays, open Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve from 12-5pm).
Facility Rentals

Enhanced FItness
Enhance Fitness is a nationwide, research based fitness class for adults 60+ years of age. This exercise class includes warm-up, cardio, cool down, strength training and stretching.
