MEET THE STAFF
Regina Mertilien is a long time employee with the City of Lathrop Parks and Recreation Department. She has worked in various positions for the City since 2004 and is currently employed as our Recreation Coordinator at the Senior Center. Her positive and upbeat attitude is a great asset to have in working with the seniors in our community. As a Recreation Coordinator, she is responsible for leading the daily activities at the Senior Center and for senior programs.
Debra Wheale has been working for the City of Lathrop since 2001. She began her employment as a Senior Recreation Leader working at the Senior Center and currently serves as the Office Assistant for the Parks and Recreation Department. Whether you live in Lathrop or are just here to visit at the Lathrop Generations Center, Debra is the welcoming smile that greets everyone coming to visit the Center.
Chris McClain started his employment with the City of Lathrop Parks and Recreation Department in 2011 as a Recreation Leader. He began working as a Facility Supervisor in 2013 and was hired as our full-‐time Facility Supervisor in 2014. In his position, Chris is responsible for overseeing the City facilities are set up and ready for the Parks and Recreation Programs and rentals as well as assisting with our Community events. There are things that need to be done in preparation for programs and events and Chris is an integral part of insuring that things are done. January - April 2016

Water Feature Hours April 15-October 15, 2016 Our water play feature at Valverde Park is scheduled to be open through October 15, 2016. Hours and duration vary depending on California Drought updates. The water feature at Mossdale Park is currently closed due to the current drought restrictions. REFUND POLICY • Please make your selections carefully. • No refunds or transfers will be given on or after the first class. Any refund or transfer must be requested at least one working day prior to the first day of class. • All refunds will be made payable by check to the primary account contact and will be mailed to the address on file. We do not add the credit to credit cards. • Refunds will take approximately six weeks to process. • No refunds (whole or partial) can be given for classed missed by the student.
FACILITY RESERVATION INFORMATION Certain City of Lathrop park shelters may be reserved for picnics, parties, etc. Reservations should be made a minimum of 30 days in advance as shelters are limited. Reservation fees vary depending upon the size capacity of the picnic shelter and/or open space. Payment in full is due on the day the reservation is made. Inflatable bounce houses are only allowed in designated areas and require a generator and liability insurance. You may not have a bounce house at any
Please review the following guidelines for participation in Parks & Recreation classes: 1. Parents should escort each child to class and remain until the instructor arrives. Parents are responsible for their child until class begins. 2. No child care is provided prior to, or after class. Please arrive early to pick up your child. 3. All instructors are contractors and not City of Lathrop employees. All contractors have the option to use assistants or sub-contractors to teach class. 4. Do not purchase any required supplies or attire until after the first day of class. 5. Please encourage your child to use the restroom before class begins. Instructors cannot leave the class to escort a child to the restroom. 6. Instructors have the option of allowing parents to remain in the class or to ask them to leave while class is in session.

COMMUNITY INFORMATION Free Snack Program Lathrop Community Center A free snack program is offered at the Lathrop Community Center each weekday throughout the school year. Any child under the age of 18 may eat free at this state funded snack program. Snack is served from 3:15 pm until 3:45 pm. You do not have to be part of any Lathrop Parks & Recreation Program to participate in this program. It is open to the whole community. Snacks are not served on weekends or holidays.

KID CLUB INFORMATION Before School Program Lathrop Community Center, Joseph Widmer School and Mossdale Elementary School 7:00 am to 9:00 am These successful before school program serve all three of the elementary schools located in Lathrop which is part of Manteca Unified School District. This program will serve a healthy snack; help your child prepare for their day and present interesting and creative activities. Kid Club Programs are open Monday through Friday except certain holidays. Fees: $10 per week
Afterschool Program Lathrop Community Center, Joseph Widmer School and Mossdale Elementary School 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm The Kid Club afterschool program consists of arts and crafts, games, sports, cooking, science and homework time. The program will focus on giving children an opportunity to use their creativity, as they embark on each new and enriching project. The City staff will create a safe and encouraging environment for each participant. Fees: $20 per week
Kindercamp Program Kindercamp is designed for children enrolled in the morning Kindergarten class. The program consists of age appropriate activities, games and offers a healthy snack. Program hours are 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm daily (except certain holidays). The program is currently being offered at Mossdale and Joseph Widmer Elementary School. Come Join “Chip” (Children Helping in Program) Kid Club presents a unique program for children in the sixth, seventh and eighth grades. This program is designed for the participant to work with staff and learn the job duties related to Kid Club. The objective of this program is to offer children job skills that will last throughout their lives. This program is offered at all three sites. Fees: $2.50 per hour
Youth Scholarship Program Eligibility Requirements: Applicant must be a Lathrop resident. Families receiving a Public Assistance Grant (ADFC or General Assistance) will automatically qualify for financial assistance. Current income verification from your case worker must accompany the application. Families not receiving public assistance must show proof that the family income is at or below the current

HUD guidelines. Proof of yearly income can be verified in one or a combination of the following methods: 3 current paycheck stubs, 3 unemployment check stubs, workers compensation payment verification, social security income verification, last year’s Form 1040 tax return, or state disability verification. TEEN CENTER INFORMATION
The Teen Center is a safe environment for teens currently enrolled in the 7th-12th (or ages 12-18) grades to gather and socialize with friends after school, participate in structured activities, work on homework, play video games, grab a snack, SAT reviews, and be mentored by City of Lathrop Teen Center Staff. The Center will host PS4 tournaments, WII U tournaments, Pool Tournaments, Ping Pong Tournaments, Movie in the Park, and much more! We will be hosting Guitars not Guns Music program, Art Clubs, Sister2Sister, Intermural Sports, Graphic Design, Photo Clubs and more for our Teen Center Members. Teen Center Membership is free, but applicaiton is required. The Teen Center is open Monday through Friday from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Guitars Not Guns: This beginning guitar program will instill a love and appreciation for music that participants will carry with them for the rest of their lives. This 8 week Program will be available to the first 10 teens to sign up. The program teaches guitar and offers the opportunity to master changing from one chord to another, teaches perseverance and discipline and builds self-esteem. Sister2Sister: Radio Personality Amanda King will host the Sister2Sister program designed to empower and encourage young ladies. The program offers mentorship and community services opportunities as well as including curriculum that revolves around different themes and talking points each week. Lathrop Police Services Annual 2016 Citizen’s Police Academy March 2 – April 27, 2016 The goal of the Lathrop Police Services Citizens Academy is to promote a better relationship between the police department and our community it serves. Pee Wee Soccer This is an instructional league for children 4 to 7 years old. No scores or standings will be kept. Basic fundamentals of the game will be taught. Youth Soccer Coming Soon!! Challenger British Soccer Camp
This is a parent-child participation program for young children, ages 3 - 5. This program teaches children the necessary basketball skills to prepare them for organized basketball. Each week the child will work on dribbling, ball handling, passing, catching, shooting, running, and agility; which becomes increasingly more difficult as the class progresses and children show improvement. Each participant receives individual program equipment (included in the $36 fee). Teen Volunteers Needed! We are looking for teens interested in helping to plan teen activities and events at the new Lathrop Generations Center. Here is your opportunity to build great trips, classes and events! Help the YAC commissioners and LGC teen staff plan dances, sports, while you earn community service credit.
Challenger has developed one of the most innovative methods of coaching in the U.S. While they focus on teaching key techniques and technical components of soccer, they are also committed to developing the whole child. They coach soccer skills within a framework of character development based on respect, responsibility, integrity, leadership and sportsmanship. All campers receive a Soccer Ball, T-Shirt and hand written evaluation PLUS an incredible FREE soccer jersey for all registrations taken 45 days prior to camp at www. challengersports.com. Start Smart Soccer is a parent-child participation program for children ages 3-5, who have little to no experience playing soccer. This program teaches children a variety of skills including; dribbling, kicking and passing, trapping, throw-ins and agility. This is an excellent way to prepare your child for organized soccer in a fun and easy to learn environment. Each participant receives the following to keep: 1 participant manual, 1 Teslon Soccer Ball, 1 Size 3 soccer ball, 1 set of Shinguards and 4 soccer cones (all included in the class fee). SENIOR CLASSES Senior Lunch Program Nutritious lunch is served daily at the Lathrop Senior Center at 11:30 am. Lunch is for seniors 60 and over. You must sign up at least 24 hours in advance by coming in or calling the Senior Center by noon at (209) 941-7380. A calendar with the menu for the month is available at the Senior Center.
Senior Brown Bag Brown Bag is a food distribution program for seniors 60 years and older. There are some income restrictions and participants may sign-up at the senior center the day of the distribution. Days: 2nd & 4th Tuesday of each month Time: 9:00 am – 11:00 am Fee: $12 for the year
Commodities Food products will be given to those who self-certify that they are residents of Lathrop or French Camp and whose household income is within the program guidelines.
