OVERVIEW Melbourne Knowledge Week (MKW) supports and celebrates the innovation, creativity, idea-sharing and thought-leadership that contributes to Melbourne being one of the leading knowledge cities in the world. We have partnered with a range of organisations, businesses and individuals to create a showcase of exclusive opportunities and experiences which will expand horizons and broaden minds across the city. Lots of events are free and there is something for everyone. Hear from industry specialists about the future of global business; discover what happens when art combines with technology; meet tech entrepreneurs or get involved in shaping our city, and explore Melbourne’s world class medical precinct to meet some of Australia’s best scientists.
And for the first time we have our own Knowledge Hub on Swanston Street where you can take part in a variety of extra events or find out what’s happening throughout the week. This is a great opportunity for everyone, to discover, celebrate and contribute to the wealth of knowledge in our community.

Peer Academy inspires change through changing the way we learn. Our goal is simple, to bring together innovators and collaborators across corporate, government and not for profits who are passionate about accelerating change in their organisations. Focused on the skills needed for the 21st century, Peer Academy provides a platform for professionals to increase their capabilities through sharing skills, tools and knowledge.
Why are arts students forced to defend their pursuit of such ‘useless’ degrees? Karen Hitchcock and Lisa Gorton discuss how their humanities backgrounds have helped in their careers - careers one would not readily associate with the humanities. They will demonstrate that the skills acquired through studying history, literature and philosophy are relevant in a wide range of professions.
