DIRECTOR’S NOTE
As the director of Mesa Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities, I am thrilled to offer a wide range of recreational classes, activities and events for people of all ages and abilities We have over 2,060 acres of park land, including 209 parks with unique playgrounds, first-class athletic fields, 9 aquatic centers, splash pads, trails, 6 recreation centers, the Mesa Convention Center, Amphitheatre, The POST, Dobson Ranch Golf Course, a cemetery, and 2 spring training baseball stadiums! Our refreshed PLAYBOOK magazine is published seasonally and contains information about the classes, activities, and special events produced by the Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities Department. We offer hundreds of programs and classes including adult sports, youth sports, adaptive programs, tennis lessons and leagues, pickleball lessons, water exercise, swim lessons, school break camps, enrichment classes such as STEM, Danger Scouts, yoga, martial arts, and more! Mesa Outdoor Recreation Experience provides a mobile outdoor educational experience to City of Mesa residents, within our parks, trails and natural spaces
PURPOSE
To promote understanding, appreciation, and stewardship of outdoor recreation in Mesa parks.
To create opportunities for the community to explore, play, and thrive outdoors by bringing dynamic, barrier-free recreation and educational experiences to neighborhoods across the city.
To connect people with our parks and green spaces, creating lifelong outdoor enthusiasts and healthy, active communities.
