Youth Hoops is our recreational basketball program designed for kids (K – MS) to have fun while learning sportsmanship, as well as basketball rules and skills. Our referees are dedicated to explaining fouls before announcing them, and concentrate on communicating rules to the players during game play. This program is for all levels of ability. Sessions run 8-weeks.

EMNECC & Northwest Ages 6 months-2 years old This parent-assisted program helps small children become accustomed to the water while in the familiar hands of a parent. Ratio: 10 students to 1 instructor

LEARN TO SWIM EMNECC & Northwest Ages 6+ Students will be introduced to the fundamentals and techniques of basic swimming. Advanced students will refine the skills presented in previous lessons. This course is broken out into six levels of progressive instruction. Ratio: 8 students to 1 instructor

Buoyancy takes the impact off leg joints allowing exercises to improve muscular strength, balance and fitness levels. Get high-impact results from a low-impact water workout. No swimming skills are required.

LIFEGUARD CLASSES Northwest Ages 16+ | (775) 334-2203 Lifeguards are trained to act with speed and confidence in emergency situations both in and out of the water. Core content includes: Water rescue skills, surveillance and recognition, First Aid, CPR and AED, and breathing and cardiac emergencies. Participants are required to pass a pre-course swimming test and in order to earn a certification, must attend all courses, pass a written exam and pass a practical skills test. An e-book or printed version is available. $75-150.

WHEELCHAIR RUGBY TOURNAMENT Plumas Gym | Oct 25-27, 2019 This is an annual wheelchair rugby tournament which will compete with teams from the United States Quad Rugby Association (USQRA) during this fun-filled weekend.

Project HERO City of Reno Project HERO (Healing Exercise Rehabilitation Opportunity) provides training and supports cycling programs at military hospitals, Army Transition Units, Marine Wounded Warrior Units and Veterans Affairs locations to help healing heroes. Fit But Not Forgotten Thursday 5:30-6:30pm Friday 10-11am This program offers weekly fitness classes in our facility weight room covering equipment, fitness level assessment, strength development techniques, fitness goal discussion, endurance and flexibility. Upon completion of four classes, participants will be eligible for a free all-inclusive one year facility membership. This program is funded from a grant provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Adaptive Sports Grant. Military Sports Camp Sept 9-13, 2019 The City of Reno will host 15 disabled veterans and injured service members with their spouse/guest for a multi-day event. There is no cost to military servicemen or women and their guest. Registration preferences will be given to Nevada Service Members and residents.

Cyan Park: The new park plan is available on the City's website. Construction will begin this fall for a summer 2020 opening. Las Brisas Skate Park: The new 10,000 square foot skate park opened in August 2019. Mayor's/McAlinden Parks: Council approved a new master plan, which is available on the City's website. Staff is currently working on plans for the first phase of construction, primarily directed at improvements to the ballfields. Construction will begin fall 2019 for a summer 2020 opening.

Miguel Ribera Park Restroom: Construction of a permanent restroom building will start and be completed this winter. The restroom will be located adjacent to the picnic shelter area. Adopt-a-Park Get involved in the community in a way that develops pride and appreciation through stewardship. Call 851-5185 and adopt a park in your neighborhood today.

Each shelter can accommodate 50-200 people and comes with picnic tables and a barbecue. Please note that these amenities are not reserved as part of a picnic shelter permit. Park amenities are normally open to the public at large. A beer and wine permit is required ($55) if they will be consumed at your event. Sierra Vista Park: The park is now open from sunrise to sunset. The non-profit Biggest Little Trails Stewardship group will construct mountain bike trails, including installation of agility features for biking skills, beginning in Sept. Somersett West Park: Construction of this 5.5 acre park began in July and will be completed in spring 2020.

PARK RENOVATIONS: Wilkinson Park: The new multisport court with basketball, pickleball and foursquare/ hopscotch courts opened in July. Huffaker Park: The tennis courts will be reconstructed in the Spring of 2020.

This 1910 historic building provides arts and craft workshops for local nonprofit art organizations. Part of the Truckee River Arts and Culture district, rooms are available for rent by tenants and outside culture groups. Options include use of auditorium, stage, restrooms, foyer, twenty 6’ rectangular tables, twenty 5’ round tables, 160 chairs, kitchen and courtyard. Tables and chairs are indoor use only.
