Volunteer Opportunities Volunteers are a vital part of the City of Reno Inclusion/Adaptive Recreation program. Volunteers will gain rewarding experiences through assisting Parks and Recreation staff with a variety of programs or providing additional support for participants. We are currently seeking volunteers for our upcoming programs!

ROCK STEADY BOXING FOR PEOPLE WITH PARKINSON’S COMES TO RENO Rock Steady Boxing, a unique exercise program, based on training used by boxing pros, and adapted to people with Parkinson’s disease, will now be available in the Reno area. The program involves regular exercises, such as stretching, circuit training, resistance training, jumping-rope, push-ups, balancing and lots of non-contact boxing, led by experienced trainers/coaches. Rock Steady Boxing serves both men and women of all ages and levels of ability. “We are fortunate to be able to bring this program to Reno,” said Head Coach Robert, who successfully completed the Rock Steady Boxing Certification Training, and is certified to offer Rock Steady Boxing training classes to individuals with Parkinson’s disease who live in the area. WHEELCHAIR RUGBY August-April Tuesday at 2-5pm $50 Saturday at 12-3pm $50 EMNECC - 1301 Valley Rd. Wheelchair or Quad Rugby is a fast paced and competitive sport for individuals with physical disabilities that affect all four extremities. Players use special “Rugby Wheelchairs” to play the sport. These chairs are very maneuverable and can take a hit or two. Rugby players must be able to push their own wheelchairs.

WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL August-April Saturdays at 3:30-6pm $50 Plumas Gym - 475 Monroe St. Are you interested in the extreme challenge of wheelchair basketball? Wheelchair basketball is a sport for everyone - people who use wheelchairs for mobility and people who don’t.
Mark Wellman Adventure Day All people with disabilities are invited to attend Mark Wellman’s Adventure Day at the Sparks Marina Park from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7. A kayaking seminar will be featured, adaptive rock climbing, adaptive sailing, and hand cycles will be available to try. Bring your bathing suit and sun block to this free event.
I can Bike Camp June 15-19, 2020 The I Can Bike Camp teaches kids and adults with a disability how to ride a twowheeled bike independently. Riders attend the same 75-minute session each day during the 5-day camp, the adapted bike is adjusted to challenge riders at their own individual pace. 80% of riders go home riding their own twowheeled bike! Tennis Buddies of Reno This program is fun, interactive, and a supportive environment for individuals with down syndrome and other developmental disabilities where they can improve their fitness levels and learn to play tennis. Classes will cover orientation to equipment, assessment of fitness level, proper technique to develop strength, endurance and flexibility, and discuss fitness goals. Join Nevada's Veterans as we carry 7000 dog tags in honor of service members lost since 9/11/2001 and the annual loss of life to suicide. We will travel from Las Vegas to the Fernley Veterans Memorial Cemetery, over 400 miles.
